Hi Jill, theyve been building up my dose for the last 3 months. I refused to take anything other than my anti inflammatories for about 6 years and as a result Ive had quite a bit of damage to my joints. I think theyre trying to get me on as high a dose as poss to try and slow it down before anything else happens. I was on 20mg as a final dose but within the last month I was feeling awful again so went back to them and they upped it again. Theyre doing my DAZ score for anti TNF (I have my second scoring next weds) so Im guessing I wont be staying on just MTX. Also, just remembered, my bloods settled nicely (Got my CRP down to 16 from 80) but when I started feeling worse again it went back up to about 40. It does seem odd that you'd be on a lower dose when you suffer so much. Maybe because youre on Enbrel aswell? Does that make a difference? What are your bloods like?
Ive taken my MTX again lastnight (I was just starting to get over last weeks dose lol) and am totally exhausted this morning. I feel like Ive stayed awake all night. Ive had a bowl of porridge to settle my stomach which seems to have helped a bit.
Good luck with the injections Shaz, I was on injections temporarily a few years ago and theyre a lot easier to do than you first expect!

Hi Verity, when i first began MTX, I was every joint in my body was inflamed, everything off the scale, esr etc, the lot, they didnt know what it was, never suffered pain like it, after three days they diagnosed Reiters(rare) but its now left me with Inflamatory Arthritis, basically similar to R.A., same treatments etc, anyway, as I got better, they put me on MTX, left hosp etc, slowly built up to 17.5, but one huge flare up, back in hosp at my ESR was 97, one of my rhummys said I had R.A. in his opinion, anyway they decided to put me on sulphasalazine too, along with MTX, Wow, that sulpha made me sick so bad, was on that for 6 months came offf that, and was then put up for the Enbrel etc, I was so happy, MTX remained at 17.5, so that dose along with Enbrel, seems to work very well for me, still got degeneration going on, but been told, thats due to the Reiters, its still got a hold, and the mes wont help the soft tissue that gets inflamed, thats my understanding anyway.... so my tendons and ligaments and discs get inflamed, discs dissapearing(DDD) anyway, Basically, I could NOT imagine being without them, god knows how i wls be now without those meds...however, if I had began the meds years ago, I wldnt be as bad as I am right now...... so yes, I havnt had any side affects at all with Enbrel, MTX I do, know its the MTX becos I had the side affects b4 starting Enbrel, and the affects r kinds the same, slight less, like Tiredness, fatigue on many occasions, but my bio nurse reckons the Meds that i take, painkillers(opiates) can make me tired, but i have suffered a lot with Teeth absesses, since being on MTX, I have had 5 teeth removed, they coulnt be saved, and even dentist beleived its due to the immune system being compromised, had 4 abbsesses at the same time ..one up top and three below, the gang in here were so supportive, wow was I in agony, had 4 removed at the hosp in one hit..... lolol..... otehr than that, great, and my bloods have ALWAYS been Normal, nowt sinister at all going on regards bloods, each month, the bloods seems to come back pretty much same...ESR is 12 at mo..HB fab etc.....so be positive about this Med ok, dont need to say Good luck really to u, becos I know U wont need it, U will be fine and feel gr8 when it kicks in...tc love Jill x
