Subject: The cost of Humira...

Humira is expensive, at least for those who aren't lucky enough to live in Scotland. I have heard, in semi-whispers, that if you're very lucky living in England one can apply and get funding for Humira.

My questions to you are; How does one apply for funding? Does anyone know the liklihood of success? Are certain regions of England more receptive to applicants?

I ask because I'm currently at college studying Animation, Art and Design, living in Scotland, and hope to continue onto university next year, but the universities that offer the courses I want to do are in England.

The drug has completely changed my life and without it i'd never have been able to go back to education never mind consider career prospects! Without funding though i'd never be able to afford the drug and I can't afford not to be on it.

Any information, personal experience etc that anyone would be willing to share would be fantastic and much appreciated. :]

im on ENBREL, similar to Humira..... I dont pay for it, and I wld never be able to...cost £10,000 a year.... I live in UK, thort anyone living in GB wld get it free.... NHS pays for it.... if yur elsewhere, guess u pay fir it via yur insurance company....I do know tho, that there r certian criteria a person has to fit to be accepted for that therapy...I assume u have as U r already on it.....to be honest, ive read and read your post, dont quite understand the prob...as U r on it, U must have a Biologics Nurse, she wld do all the paper work for u to recieve it elsewhere in the UK... hope that helps...

When I first started Humira (this was July last year) my Rheumatology nurse told me that it's all different in England and unless you apply for funding you have to pay for the drug yourself...

Is this not true then?

Is there anyone I should or could be able to contact officially, in England, to ask about this?

Thanks for the response here! This has given me some hope!
