Hi Vicky I'm on this drug combined with other dmards. I did take it on its own for a while, but as my arthritis progressed I needed extra help. It has not caused any problems for me, but you need to be aware that you should have your eyesight checked annually whilst on this as rarely it can cause problems with your retina. Hope this helps.

Hi Vicky I have been taking 300mgs daily of Hydroxychloroquine (Plaquenil) for 2 years now. It took six months to work for me and so far I've had 18 good months whilst on it. I do get my eyes checked annually at the hospital. I did experience several side effects to start with but they wore off after a couple of weeks. Hope it works for you soon Elaine

Hi Vicky, been taking Hydroxy for 15 months now and not noticed any side affects. I was in hospital for a week as i was so bad and they put me on this as well as leflunomide, methotrexate and changed my ant-tnf to Humira. It did take a few months to feel the difference but so far all my drugs have taken months to have any affect. I'm better than i was but still have a lot of pain on a day to day basis, just have to accept i'm one of the very bad cases.

Hi Nick, I work for a market research company that specialises in the medical device field. We are looking for RA sufferers that inject Humira and either live in the London area or are willing and able to travel to London to take part in an interview. The interview will relate to a new device to help RA sufferers administer their drugs. We will pay £200 to cover expenses and the interview would last approx 90 minutes. Would you be interested? Please do get in touch if you would like to know more - george.ashford@creativemedicalresearch.com Best regards, George
