Subject: Psoriatic Arthritis and Etanercept

Hello, just been looking through the posts on here and it is extremely comforting to know that i'm not the only person suffering from psoriatic arthritis and in pain!

Having looked at a few pages, I have not noticed anyone mention etanercept (biologics) and as i am due to start injecting it next week, would be grateful if anyone who is on it/has been on it could give me an idea what to expect? I understand the plan is to continue to take methotrexate as well - i have been taking this for over 6 months and neither this, nor cyclosporin have worked.

If it helps, I am pushing 30 and am relatively fit and healthy but have quite a stressful job.

Any comments gratefully received.

Kind regards

Hi John Im on Methtrexate and Enbrel(biologics Anti TNF meds) Ive been on MTX just two years, and over a year now with Enbrel....I feel so much better on it, less flare ups, and if I get a flare up, not as long, and not as bad... so hope that helps u feel better....everyone i know that takes the Biologics, feel so much better for being on it, seems side affects r few, compared to what the illness brings.....i get fatigued regularly, and sometimes i feel sick taking the meds for a day or two.....but id rather than that, than NOT be taking this lifesaving drug for me..... Lynne is also on Enbrel....imm sure she will chat with u soon....keep in touch ok, we need more men in our little group

Love Jill

Hi john you mat have noticed postings on here about enbrel ... Etenercept is just another clinical name for enbrel. There are quite a few people on here who take it . I do and have had no problems at all with it apart from a little soreness at the site of the injection.
It's one of the best meds I've been on. Mind you it does not takeaway all the pain. Plus if I do have a flareup it is much milder. Would not be without it. Hope this helps take care
