Subject: Our 1st support group meeting

Hi Everyone,

I had an email from Dr Viner thanking us for inviting him and Michelle (specialist nurse) to our meeting. He said he was pleased with how it went and looks forward to working with us in the future. He would like us to participate in a training session he is setting up with some nurses to learn more about RA and what problems patients might have post-op. I have said we would be glad to participate and I'll get back to you all when I know more. He is also keen for us to provide some 'peer' support to any of his patients he feels would benefit.

Cherie and I had a chat about starting up a drop-in support group for anyone who wanted to turn up. We thought once every 3 months - probably in the Hare and Hounds. This would be in addition to meeting every 2 months with the rest of the group. We can start to think about setting a date for the first one of those. We will keep it fairly low key, basically Cherie and I can go and have lunch and be there for anyone else who might want to come along (everyone from our arthritis forum group is welcome too). We won't talk 'business' it will just be an informal get-together. If no one else turns up Cherie and I will just have lunch and chat to each other! I'll let you know when we are planning to have the first one.

Okay enough for now - hope you are all well

Trina

Hi Trina, just a quick hello before I'm off to Malvern. All sounds good to me and going in the right direction - cringed slightly when I re-read My Story! Can we take it off now? Hope your knees better.

love cherie

Hi Cherie,

My knees are slightly better this morning but I'm still having to navigate stairs like a crab - Don't think I'll be dashing around too much today...

Your story is absolutly fab. I really related to the bit about the words rheumatoid arthritis being like a magnet - you don't want to read it because you know it will drag you somewhere you may not want to be, but you can't help it.

Hope you both have a good time in Malvern...

I'll ring you when next week when you're back...

Hi Trina,

Hope you had a good time in Dublin. Malvern went as well as could be expected for visiting elderley relatives...!

I have confirmed to Michelle that I will be able to attend the thing on Monday 13 June 2005.

I'm in Frampton till wednesday if you need me...
