Subject: Carpal Tunnel Decompression

Hi, Has anyone had this proceedure? I am due to have this done soon and am interested in any experiences you may have... good or bad! Anything to do with the Op & recovery welcome. I am a little worried as they are doing my Right(predominate) hand first. Is there anything that you wished you had known beforehand? Many thanks

Hi Jackie...I had that op 22 years ago.... had right hand done then the left 3 weeks later, they were so bad, had no choice to have them done a short time between the first op...I wld NOT recomend that.... the op back then for me was sore after, as I just had a new born baby, plus my ex hubby was a lazy sod.... so for me it ws a painful time, but that was becos of my chnaging my baby and the hubby at the time refused..... however, once I recovered, Best Op ever!!! no regrets since... the pain of carpal tunnel for me was horrendous.... so goood luck in deciding havuing the op, U wont regret it.... By the way, do u have any other type arthritis...carpal tunnel is usuallly associated with Arthritis...

let me know how u get on please, as it helps others in the same position

take care

Love Jill x

Hello Jill, sorry to hear how inconsiderate the 'ex' was when you needed him... guess that had something to do with why he's the ex! Must of been a painful & probably a delayed recovery for you, managing the baby as well. Although great to hear that the procedure worked for you.
Yep, I am a member of the Arthur family. Been blessed with Osteo & Psoriatic arthritis, with all its 'extras' thrown in for free! lol. Had my R hip resurfaced last year, which has been a success for me. Trouble is, My bones, tendons & ligaments appear to be falling apart quicker than I can get them fixed!! lol

Awwww Jackie, u have been thru the mill.... Lynne had hers replaced few years back, my m8 had hers done recently, the less invasive type...she feels gr8, they were talking about resurfacing mine, after two ops, the surgeons now think the hip pain is coming from my spine(need another few bolts put in as a kind of scaffolding structure again!)...seeing spine surg aug 7th...c what he says re waiting times etc... my tendons r terrible also... think it all goes with the terrritory....I was awake when I had my hand ops...scars r very fine, but even after 22 years, can still see a fine line....u will defffo benefit from tht op...and like u said, if ex hadnt been a dipstick i wld have recovered quicker... Must ask jackie have u applied for DLA.... Us gals in here make sure peeps know that u can claim for your disability...as much as we hate to think of ourselves as that, at end of the day we R entitled to receiving it... let us know... tkae care ok.....do u have a date for your op??
