Subject: too young at 50 for op just diagnosed

Hi guys my mates told me everything went down hill at 50 but i did nt expect arthritis yet. I now realise it is not always an age thing. I need a hip op but my doc says not yet,too young. It seems to come and go in episodes. feeling fed up and tired, any advice or support would be helpful.

Jenny don't believe that. Your rheumy may say that but it's not true they often put you off it quite common. I had mine done when I was 45 and there were gis on my ward who were in their 20is. You'll find you have to be firm with your rheumy or they will just keep putting you off. And tell you to come back in six months time. And your no better off.

Hiya Jenny,
My sister was almost a wheel chair stage with her hip, then she went private and had her hip re-coated, it was an alternative to hip replacement. She was 50 at the time, and has never looked back. It cost her £6,000 she has Osteo arthritis.
I am 53 now, and only last year got RA from no where, and i felt real sorry for myself,( still do at times lol) but when i read about the young girls and kids on here it made me think to, affecting their lives like it does and the thought of a young mums having to look after littlies with it makes me think my moans are minor compared to theirs.
I do love this site for all the laughter and support it brings, but I still have difficulty keeping track of the threads which I write on, because of my crappy memory, i think a few of you also experience this to.
I would like to be able to communicate better, and, get to know more about people who have RA, especially the newies to this as we are all in the same boat and it is good to compare notes. That way as well as helping myself it would be caring and sharing with others, which I know this forum does but to be honest sometimes I think I would like to say more to some people then I get lost again on the site because there are so many posts going backwards and forwards that I forget what I have said and who I have said it to.
Has anyone considered sharing email addresses?
My email is leclure@aol.com, I would love to hear from anyone that finds they have the same problem. Take Care

Angela I understand you wish to be in contact with others . With RA but be a little carefull with posting your email it's open to everyone to see. Only saying the because we've had so odd bods in here . How I get around not getting lost is to put a post up and then just follow that. Know what you mean about the memory.. Take care lol

Cheers Lynne, I know there have been a few odd balls and i will be careful. My thinking is any oddball usually wants more of an audience than just me if you know what I mean, and there are far more lovely people on here than horrible ones.
Thanks for caring

Hi Angela thank for the reply I will look into hip recoating. I feel that my probs are not bad after reading some on here. Until last week I though arthritis was an old age thing. I feel lucky that I am not as bad as some here It must be so hard to cope with the condition and children as well. I am glad I have found this site. Its easier to talk to others in the same boat I dont like to go on about it to my family.

Jan as we've said many times .. it's very hard but you need to be firm with your Rheumy or you'll get nowhere. if you feel he needs to know something or you feel you need something keep having a go or you'll get nowhere, it's hard, very hard when your ill, but she who stamps her feet and shouts loudest gets listened too, and maybe get the treatment they deserve. Good luck sweet heart
