Subject: Has anyone got sjrograms Syndrome also known as sicca?
Probably not spelled it correctly.. Sjorgrams syndrome is complication of RA. Simply put it is dry eyes that feel gritty, sore dry throat, and a dry mouth. I have it and wondered if anyone else gets it. I have false tears and liquigel for my eyes, pastels to make my mouth water but that,s it. Has anyone got any tips

Not really as with most of arthritis related complaints it's a combination of symptons and best guess I think. I do believe they can do a biopsy of your salava glands to confirm.. yuk.. but the NHS don't do that test. probably costs too much for not much gain I expect.

Lynne my hands have been gr8 since the ops in 86/87 had a touch or carpal, but ok...however Ive had the typical synovial fluid inflamation is hands and feet over the years... blidddy painful... due to have a spine op, but hoping to have yet another injection in disc, last one worked for 3 months,...but i need the op, not sure he will let me have anotehr jab.... whats wrong with your back...have U ha MRI on spine? if no u should, becos they might be able to sort tht out...? my left thunm knuckle is distored and huge...no pain there tho at mo... also I have Triggger fingers in neearly all and trigger thumbs in both, had injections for the thumbs, that worked goood, pain went immed... but in reality, they do operate on trigger thimbs etc...but All mine are affected... as they are calm at mo, will leave weel alone..I haver two twisted knee caps also lolololol had both shoulders operated on due to impingement...Oh well...at least I havnt had an op for a year, so thats good going for me...

WHAT!!! worked thought for a while then I had the hip op.. Had the trigger finger a few time. did you have injections for those.. mine helped

Hi Lynne Yes I have dry eyes, mouth and throat at times. I used drops in my eyes throughout the day and Lacri-lube gel at night. Don't really do anything for mouth and throat just seem to be always sipping water. My dentist did mention that good dental hygiene is very important with dry mouth syndrome. Some RA medications can cause these problems. I only developed mine when I started taking Hydroxychloroquine.

Hi Elaine my dentist also recomends good dental hygene.. have to brush teeth, then use inter dentine brush (For in btw teeth) then tongue scrape, then mouth wash.. what a palava.. still me pearly whites are not in bad nick.. believe it can also be caused by all the xrays we have.. well that's what the literature said that they gave me.
