Subject: Rheumatoid Factor - 454 - any advice please.
Hi there. I called my GP as I was experiencing pain in my knuckles some nodules and general aching. I had several bloodtests. All came back ok except for the RF as above, which I understand is very high. I was referrred to a consultant who on examination said that my swelling and nodules looked consistant with Osteo arthritis. I have a lot of auto-immune conditions in my immediate family including, type 1 diabetes, psoriasis, underactive thyroid and my maternal aunt has RA. The consultant has taken some x-rays of my hands, and some further bloods. If this isn't RA, any ideas what it could be? Did anyone else not have the text book syptoms of RA and still have a diagnosis?

Hi Claire,
I suffer with joint pain in all of my finger joints. I had an ultra sound done and I have a combination of RA and OA.
It can be a while before you will get an answer. There are so many different tests along the way. I guess you are still waiting for the xray and blood test results.
If it is not RA then it probably will be OA.
I hope you get some answers soon.

Hi Claire, It's good that you are getting other tests and hopefully that will throw more light on what's going on. I have heard that there are over 200 different types of arthritis although OA and RA are the most common. You can have the RF and not have RA, other things can cause it.

Hi Claire, I just want to share my story. My name is Jillie, suffered from chronic arthritis both of my hips and both of my wrist and the lower part of my back for over 7 years.

hi Claire
I am positive for RA & 25 years ago my RF was about 450 , its not good to have high RF , if you have joint problems , red & hot joints are all signs of RA & with raised RF hints at RA the results means very little but those with high RF can have more risk of servere RA , the drugs are alot better now & hope they can control it but dont mess with the drugs & wish you good luck

Hi Jillie,you haven't told us what this amazing treatment is. You say it is plant based. I think you might be on a sales patter.
