hi guys , sorry been a while , we are ok sort of , the virus just leaves a nasty few things like post viral fatique , my son is worse than I am , just blad I had my immune suppressants to stop the worst of th virus & now they are starting trials on the drug Xeljanz to treat moderate covid ,

hope you guys are well , lucy been thinking of you , we got some idea what you are going through , but still got the stuff to clear , my brother died in 2010 , he was single so we was all next of kin , he had only a small flat & was easy to clear , wish we could have done the same with in-laws stuff or done what you have , I live now in there part of the house as cant get up the stairs , the house is to big & so is the garden but to much to do to move house

Lois , pleased you have had chance to see your Mum , must be good for her , & hope she stays well

stay safe & best wishes xxx

I saw Mum yesterday. It was really good she looked well. I went with my two brothers and hubby. She was ok very chatty for about 15 mins then went off into her own world. We stayed for over an hour as there wasn't any one else visiting until the afternoon.

Colin so pleased you and your son are getting there. It does take a long time to get back to your old self after Covid. I hope it won't be to much longer for you both.

I know about emptying out someones home not good. I did my mum and dads bungalow then I had to do mums flat. Not the two best experiences. Lucy made the right choice. I feel for her so much. The treatment she has recieved from that care home is a disgrace. Bless her.

I have seen my three children now. Not supposed to we social distanced in the garden. I am hopeful that at the end of the month we will be given some kind of normal. Lockdown has been over 4months for us. I know its for our own good but I just want a bit of freedom now. Safely of course. Got masks gloves sanitizer at the ready.

Hi Guys,

Hope you are both doing alright. Pleased that you got to see your Mum Lois. We are now allowed out on buses etc from tomorrow and of course masks in shops. Just don't understand why it has taken them four months to do it.

Hope you are over the virus Colin. We went down to get my brothers house cleared out last week, it was a shame to have to all his stuff dumped and it cost 400 to get the house cleared, it was just a one bedroom he had. He had a new single bed and it was a good one, although his neighbour took the mattress. I'm still angry with the care home Lois, and I think they played a part in his death, he had no fluid or food for days as far as I could tell and yet the hospital said when he was in that he was eating fine and the care home kept saying he couldn't swallow and yet on the Friday before he died one of the staff said he was walking past eating a banana and that was the last he had as far as i know. When i asked about a drip for fluid they said they don't have them.

Weather has been so wet here although think tomorrow to be better.

Take care xx

Hi Lucy, clearing your brothers flat must of been tough. 400 costly. What isn't costly. Still I think what you have done was the right choice.

Lucy I would be upset with the care home as well. You got so many mixed messages about your brother. Bless him. Did you manage to get the things you wanted?
Lucy put all that in a box and just remember the good times.

I think I will be out of lockdown officially next week. I did pop to the garden centre today. Masked up and gloves I felt like a bank robber. LOL
I need a bit of normal. I have booked a hair appointment for the 19th August.

Iam seeing Mum again onthe 3rd August with my daughter. I hope the rain stays away that day. The weather is strange we had a lovely day then it rained about 5ish.

Well Lucy take care XX

hi guys , hope you both are well & staying safe

we are slowley getting over this , I am having a bit of breathing problems , dont know why & sometimes my oxegen levels are very low ie 72 & think will need to get it checked out , my son been left with some nerve problems around his neck , & causing problems with arms , one strange virus , he started helping out for a children's cancer charity to get back into work

Lucy , I am so sorry about your brother , cant believe a care home can be like that but the one we used was not any better , the small ones seems to be ok & dont deal with anyone that is ill , you hear of some being brilliant & staff living in during this virus so to protect everyone

Lois , pleased things are getting back to normal , seeing your Mum etc

Hi Colin, I hope your breathing is better today. Is it your asthma that is causing it? perhaps best speak to your doctor if it's still bothering you, that's if they are seeing patients, it's still just telephone appointments with ours.

Hope you are alright Lois. No, I didn't get my brother's things back and they didn't call me back, perhaps I am being unfair on them as it must be difficult for them too, just wish he had had better nursing care at the end but as you said it's best to forget it now and put it to be..

I don't know what's happened to the summer this year up here, we have had so much rain these last few weeks.
Hope you are allowed regular visits to your Mum now Lois.

Hi Lucy, so pleased to hear you are feeling more positive.

I am booked in again for the 3r d of August only thing that will stop it is the rain. They will shut down again if the local area reports high rates of covid.
So keeping fingers crossed.

The weather doesn't know what it wants to do.
My daughter came today she had picked up our meds.
We did manage to have a Sunday roast in the garden. Just trying to get a bit more
Normality. We social distanced. It was nice to spend a few hours with her. She works such long hours.

I am waiting for a chair to be delivered , this one is wrong for some reason & they had to get one made , could have done that a few years ago ,

Cornwall is packed out with tourist but I have not stepped outside our house for six months now , not seen anyone apart from nurses etc , it must be very hard on anyone living alone & cant get out ,

Lucy , hope you are well , dont expect you to feel better for a long time , life is crule sometimes ,

Hi Colin glad to hear your Son has started his charity well done to him.
Colin believe me you are not missing anything staying home and safe.
I went to a small garden centre the other day. I felt anxious the whole time. Most people were being cautious wearing masks the whole time. Then you get the ones who didn't bother at all.

I saw Mum again Monday. She looked ok. They are having trouble getting her to eat. She has lost more weight she is already underweight. She is also angry all the time. She did say to me all this virus is taking so long and I hate it. Maybe it is having a bigger effect on her than I realised. It is all really sad.

On a brighter note at least the weather is good.
The Tourists I guess are needed for the local economy but lets hope they all stick to the rules. I don't know how that will happen on the beaches.

Take care Colin. X

I hope the new chair helps Colin. A comfy bed and comfy chair makes a big difference.

That's good that your son is feeling well enough now to get out.

Cornwall is beautiful so I guess it's natural people want to visit but perhaps you are safer staying indoors until the crowds disappear.

I have put a complaint in with the care inspector as I still can't get it out of my head the way he looked at the end, I feel if he hadn't been given anti-pychotic drugs he may still have been here. I didn't realise that care homes don't use drips when they need fluids or meds.

I had a call from the hospital about the ankle replacement, just to tell me that they have started surgeries again and they have not forgotten about me, i asked how long but she couldn't say, probably months yet but to be honest i am worried about it.

Hi lois, I do feel for the people in care homes, just glad that you can now see your Mum. Glad to hear that you are getting the nice weather, it has been raining here for weeks and some places are flooded now, it does get you down a bit. We went back to Troon where my brother lived for a couple of days, we had a day that wasn't too bad but the rain yesterday and today was torrential, I wanted to take my grand daughter away for a couple of days before she starts school next week. The hotel had everyone well spaced out at mealtime and we stayed in a little mews cottage so weren't really around anyone and the staff all wore masks.

My daughter has a terrible burn mark on her leg, she is diabetic and it was caused by little pads that she bought that are used for removing hair, her ankle is a right mess, I couldn't believe she used them as they are like sand paper. She is now on antibiotics and attending the nurse at the clinic, I just hope it heals ok. I thought she would have had more sense at 42.

Take care and speak soon, oh and enjoy the sunshine, you are making me jealous lol xx

Lucy these kids never seem to grow up really. I hope her leg heals quickly.

You know you need that operation I would be aprehensive but you will be so much better after. It wouldn't have been so bad if you hadn't had so much time to think about it.
Sound like you made the best of your little break. Your Granddaughter is growing up quick. Is she still staying with you. I dont see my grandchildren at the moment i do miss them so much. My eldest granddaughter is 21 0n the 15th she is coming round tomorrow to pick up her degree certificate. She studied law just like her Dad. She got a higher grade than her Dad but we won't talk about that.lol.
I won't even be able to give her hug.

I will try to blow some sunshine up to you.

Hi Lois, Yes, she is still with us and to be honest it is hard at times, she was fine to start with but is now getting quite naughty, just hope she settles down when she starts school. she can be so sweet and looks so cute but she can also be very hard work. My daughter has mental health problems, it was all quite sudden and a shock when she became ill and I hope some day she can get her back, she seems ok at the moment but not well enough for her to return to her.

We had a dry day today for a change and I even managed to get a washing outside and dried and tomorrow is forecast to be nice, so that's a bonus. I do like to see the sunshine and a blue sky.

My goodness, your grand daughter is 21, that is great that she is studying law, what a clever girl. You must be proud.

I think I best get to bed, I have been so tired lately. Take care and enjoy the sunshine, and do try and blow some up to me. xxx

School should help her. She will be full of it I'm sure. New friends to play with. She will probably be tired as well after her long day.

I hope so Lois, although my middle daughter is going back to her work next week part time, she is a teacher and we have to collect her wee one from nursery 3 afternoons a week so will have her until her Mum comes home.

My oldest daughter had to go into hospital this afternoon as the infection in her ankle has got worse and the nurse at the clinic messaged her doctor, it is a worry as she is diabetic, just hope they can manage to clear it up. It seems to be one thing after another.

It is so clammy here tonight, I actually thought someone had put the heating on. Thank goodness I have a light duvet on the bed, although a sheet probably enough tonight. xx

I am sorry about your oldest daughter. At least in hospital she will get stronger antibiotics. I hope she is ok and is home soon.

I saw my granddaughter today. She told us her brother who is 18 is waiting for an operation on both of his big toes. He has had infections in his toes for two years on and off. It all started with an ingrowing toe nails. Because he won't leave them alone this is the outcome. They will remove both toe nails clean it all and remove the dead skin. Kids what would we do without them.lol.

It is so hot here. We have a fan on not much different thou. It is going to be22 degrees all night so not much sleep going to be had.

Made gooseberry jam and blackcurrant. The grandkids love it. I bet the Gin will be shared with the eldest two grandkids.

Oh my goodness Lois, that is hot, best be careful and sit in the shade. It was very warm here yesterday but nothing as warm as you had it and today has been nice, sunny with a bit of a breeze.

Lovely, home made jam and marmalade, sounds lovely and the gin will certainly add a wee kick to it lol.

I painted a table yesterday that was in my living room and was getting a bit tired looking and today a wee chair of my grand daughter's. I tried Frenchic paint for first time, it is so easy to use, no stirring and no smell. I find painting relaxing and love seeing the end result and it was lovely doing it outside when it was warm, although in the shade.

My daughter's leg is still so sore, they told her on Friday they will call her tomorrow (Monday) and give her an appointment to be seen at the burns unit. I just hope they know what they are doing as three different nurses had said it was an infection and it is hard not to worry especially when she has type 1 diabetes.

Enjoy the jam and take care in the sun xx

Hi Lois, Thank you for asking. The Royal called her at 9am this morning to say that she has to go to the local clinic tomorrow, not ideal as she thought that they would see her there today. They took a sample at the clinic last week for infection so hopefully she will get the result of that tomorrow. She has herself worried sick, she is as bad as me for reading scary stories on the internet. I will let you know tomorrow what they say.

It is humid here tonight too Lois, the fan will be on again tonight. You must be finding it very uncomfortable, no duvet tonight i bet.

My grand daughter is starting school on Wednesday, she is quite excited about it, They start at 10am until 2pm for the first few days, I just hope she enjoys it. I still remember my first day at school, I went in very happy as I had been told I would have toys to play with etc and wondered why some of the children where crying. The next day all the children went in quite happily and I was the one crying lol. Hopefully she will go in happily.

I best get myself to bed, I had bought a load of book from ebay but I am so tired when I go in that I am lucky if I manage a page or two.

I am thinking of your home made jam, I think you should send me some lol. Would be lovely with some home made bread, you could make some of that to go with it.

Hope you manage to sleep with the heat.xxx

Hi Lucy I was still tossing and turning at
4 this morning. I woke 7.30 that was it. The humidity today is awful and I hurt everywhere.
My neighbour bought me some really lovely victoria plums. I have made crumbles and some more jam. I gave her jam and apple sauce to go home with. So two happy ladies.
Good luck with your granddaughter with school I am sure she will be fine.
Please let me know how your daughter gets on.
I am hopeful we will get some rain my gardens could do with it. I just heard the hose go on and my other half had hIS head under it. LMAO.

My Mum has an appointment at the hospital. The care home have left it to me sort out about how she is getting there. I am semi shielding and will not be going anywhere near a hospital. I am fed up with the way people thinking this is my job. I don't have power of attorney over her health.
The letter went to them I didn't know that until they mentioned it when i phoned today about a visit.
The problem is you can't get Mum in a car and the carers can't go with her any way. So i called the hospital today. They are not picking people up because of covid. I hae been left with no answer at all and this appointment is so important.

I will have to ask my younger brother to take her but I know what the answer will be. I am trying not to stress.

I seem to waken very early now Lois, usually around 5am for a visit to the loo and then I toss and turn until it is time to get up and like yourself I hurt everywhere, not so bad when I get up and move about.

Those plums sound lovely, Lois, I wish I was your neighbour lol. Our house is a bit alone, about 50 yards or so from nearest neighbour.

My daughter has to go back on Thursday to get her dressing changed, they are calling it a chemical burn. The nurse from the Royal is coming to see her on Thursday, i thought it was today.

That isn't fair on you Lois, they take the money and just do what they have to do. It is becoming ridiculous that people can't be treated because of the virus, that's the reason they gave to my daughter for not seeing her at the Burns unit.

That is what they used to say to me about my brother Lois, they sent him to hospital 3 times in the last 6 weeks or so of his life and then said he had to isolate for 14 days, although they couldn't keep him in his room as he liked to move about.

Very warm here today, seemingly we had bad thunder storms during night but I didn't hear a thing.

My grand daughter started school today and came out very happy saying she loved it, long may it last.

My daughter has to see the nurse from the hospital tomorrow at our local clinic. I have told her if it isn't any better to get referred to a burns specialist.

It is very humid here tonight again, most uncomfortable.I will be going to bed shortly and hope I manage to sleep, I can't believe I slept through the storm last night, People have been talking about it and how loud it was. Hi Lois, I am pleased to hear that, at least you will know what is going on. I think that's better and any questions you have then you can ask.

The nurse from the hospital saw my daughter at the clinic this afternoon and said her leg seems to be healing, I was so relieved to hear that, she told her she will need to get it dressed twice a week for at least a month. They are treating it as a chemical burn. It is still very painful but as long as it heals then what is a bit of pain lol.

My little grand daughter came rushing in to tell me people were dancing at the park across from us and she wanted to go, my daughter took her over and it's Irish dancing, the girl was kind enough to say she could join in, they have a class just round the corner but because of the virus they not going there until September she hopes, so think she will be wanting to join them.

Lucy, how lovely that they let your granddaughter join in. Seems like she will be signing up forafter school activities.
I like watching irish dancing. I went to see riverdance years ago. One of the best shows I have ever seen.

Good news about your daughters leg. I am sure the pain will be a reminder not to do anything like that again. Poor girl. It doesn't bare thinking about.

It is so mmuch cooler tonight. We had a storm this moorning. Nothing since.

I am not mentioning to the care home the Consultant is ringing me. I don't want them changing it. I know it sounds a bit underhanded buf sometimes how it is.

Hi lucy and Colin.i had a letter from Cardiology today. It is an offer of a small wireless box that sits plugged into the electric in my bedroom. It can read my pacemaker to save me visits to the hospital and pick up anything that may be wrong. They were going to start using them next year but because of Covid are introducing them early. Then send all readings back to cardiology data base. I have agreed straight away anything to keep me away from the hospital.
Any changes needed to the pacemaker would have to be done in the hospital of course.
Technology is running way ahead of anything I know.
I am quiet excited. Small things and all that.

Oh that sounds good, lois. Technology really has come a long way and if it saves trips to the hospital then that is a bonus. I think they will be reducing and cancelling as many appointments as they can now.

It was my birthday today so we went along to the local Italian for a meal, it was lovely and nice to get out. I just feel we can't hide forever although it is still a worry and we have to be careful

Happy birthday Lucy. Happy belated birthday Colin.

Lucy i was unsure as well about going out but we have to try to get some normal back. Glad you had a good evening out.

Colin you did put a smile on my face going for a jog. The most I can do is go for a stroll.

Colin I have had a pacemaker for 11yrs. Got a new one not long ago. It is a family thing we have shares in the business
Mum Me and my eldest brother all have pacemakers. Now my younger brother is having issues. So looks like he might be going that way.

The trouble with Mums appointment is she cannot get in and out of the car. So ambulance pick up is needed this has been cancelled because of covid. They want people in and out an an ambulance can take hours to collect patients. Hopeful I will get it sorted Wednesday.

Colin sorry to hear you and your son still have ongoing issues due to covid.

Well I should be getting to bed so goodnight and sleep well.

Happy belated birthday Colin, I would have loved to have had a jog with you in sunny Cornwall lol. That would have been a lovely birthday present. Sorry to hear that you are still not right with your breathing, I hope things improve soon.

I must admit that I am a bit concerned with the kids now back at school. My daughter is a primary school teacher and I look after her little one three afternoons a week as she is at nursery in the mornings so I have germs probably coming from the school my daughter works at and also the nursery and the one that lives with us is now at school so I must admit I am concerned with the germs that may come in from them all. I too think it is all very risky and maybe too soon.

Hope your weather is a bit cooler now Lois and that you are managing to sleep better. I still have my fan on although it has got cooler at nights here too. I can't believe we are into mid August now, time does fly.

Hi Lucy,
I understand your concerns about the little ones bringing germs into the house.
I worked at a childrens nursery for 10yrs I never had so many colds before or after I worked there. LOL kids sre germy but as long as the schools are keeping to the rules all should be well.
I haven't seen my two youngest grandchildren for over 4 months. They are at school and my Son just won't bring them here because of me. I just miss them so much. I talk on skpe but its not the same.

We had a storm today and the rain was unbelievable. Everwhere was flooded.

Our central heating and hot water has broken down. Luckily we have an immersion heater so we can keep clean.
No definate date yet for repair they are so busy. We have air source heating. Don't ask me I'm not sure how it works. It's complicated. So it needs a specialist engineer.

Mum is having her pacemaker changed in 2months time. The consultant was really helpful. No choice but to get it changed if her battery goes flat she will die she is so dependent on it. Because Mum is up and mobile they have to do it. So the decision was taken out of my hands.

Sorry to hear that you have another bug Colin, that's the last thing you need. Happy to hear that you son is enjoying the work, just hope he doesn't bring any more bugs into you. It's hard to avoid though, unless we hibernate and don't see anyone at all. I'm not feeling great but think it's the RA, my shoulders are hurting and I feel tired and a bit unwell (probably a flare).

We have a hotel about a ten minute walk from the house and they put what we were told homeless people into it during lock down but someone else said it was prisoners released early that they moved in but either way there has been a few break ins in the area, I should say attempted break ins as they were caught and they had been staying at the hotel so I know where you are coming from Colin.

That's good that they are looking after your Mum Lois, I hope they can get her some nice food to entice her to eat more.

Well another rainy day here, it is ridiculous the amount of rain we have had, very hard to believe it is still August, with us being in the West we get so much rain and today I just feel like curling up with a blanket and watching a film but that won't happen, This is when I find it especially hard with the little one, and she can be a right wee devil.

Hi Colin and Lucy,
So pleased your Son is enjoying helping in the charity shop.
Colin I know exactly where you are coming from. Where we used to live they built a block of homes for care in the community patients or so they said. They filled it mostly with drinkers and drug addicts. They were so much trouble. Eventually the council decided the homes would be used for the disabled instead. So much better.

Hi Lucy we have had a lot of rain as well my joints are playing up so much. It must be hard for you at times with the little one when you feel unwell. I guess you wouldn't change it for the world. I know when my youngest two are here it is like a tornado landed. LOL.
I went to my daughters today my hubby was doing a couple of things for her.My eldest son popped in. We had a really nice day her neighbours were chatting over the fence gave us some indoor plants they had grown. We call them money plants. Not that they grow money.
My daughter made us a lovely dinner. We have just arrived home PJS on. Cup of tea thats us done for the evening.

Hi Lois, My daughter had to go back to the out of hours last night as her dressing had come off, although I think she may have been tampering with it as she said she was in agony. They dressed it again and she has to see the nurse again tomorrow and also has a telephone appointment with the hospital tomorrow, hopefully it is improving but a burn is horrible.

Sounds like you had a nice day with the family Lois, now wouldn't that be nice if we could grow money, although i think the biggest gift of all is having your health and that is what money can't usually buy although it is helpful lol.

I haven't been across the door today, I made a nice roast dinner, hubby and my daughter took the little one out on her bike, I was glad of the break to be honest. I feel a little better tonight, perhaps I just needed a restful day. Can you remember when a Sunday was classed as the sabbath day and shops were all closed? I slipped in the garden today and I have hurt my back again. It seems I am not picking my right foot up as far as I think I am. My daughter noticed my foot drags sometimes. I guess it is all coming from my back.

My eldest brother said all good I will go with her. Form to sign and just so she has someone she knows. The next morning he does a 90 degree turn around. All the reasons he can't go. Not one of them good enough. So the care home will send someone. My brother rang me to say he will pay the bill I said no its fine. I was furious. Hi Lois, I'm sure your Mum will be fine with the carer, she knows that you are there for her all the time. Sometimes families can disappoint. I have been there with mine.

Hope you are getting over the virus Colin, it seems to take its time.

Well I had a call from the company that were doing my brother's headstone to say they had erected it and to go and check it was to my satisfaction. So today we went to check it out and the first thing i noticed was it was much smaller than it was meant to be. I am going back tomorrow with a measuring tape but i know for sure they have made it much smaller than I asked so no doubt there will be problems when I call them on Tuesday as they are closed Monday. The man from the company called me yesterday to say they had put it up and to inspect it before paying them, although they were given a 500 deposit when ordered but it is definitely smaller than I was told. It was something I wanted just right so I am very disappointed.

I wasn't in the mood for cooking when I came home so we had fish suppers from the place across the road, it is a good fish and chip shop, it it new people that took over a few months back and much improved, although very fattening lol

My daughter that is a teacher has a bit of a cold, she said there is so many things going around her school, chicken pox too, so no doubt she will be carrying the germs into us as I have her little daughter 3 afternoons a week. I must admit it is a worry.

Hi Lois, I will call tomorrow when they open and see what they say. We went yesterday and as I thought it is a good bit smaller than what we asked for.

My little grand daughter had a bit of a cold the other day when we were looking after her and now I have it. I've been coughing quite a bit and not feeling good, I sweated a lot during the night. Hopefully it will pass soon.

Your son is probably right in not bringing the little ones now they are at school. I was just saying to my husband that they seem to expect too much from us, the little one is no bother when her Mum is at work but it is risky for us with our illnesses and the germs that they bring back with them. I just hate refusing them but it may come to that if things get any worse.

Another wet Monday here but I won't be going anywhere today, I will be taking it easy today xx

Lucy,
Sorry you are not feeling so good. I hope it passes soon. Lucy make sure you put yourself first. And of course your hubby. It's not good for you to pick up all and everything. It is hard saying no but sometimes we have to. I am sure they will understand.

I hope you get the headstone sorted out. It is a shame if there were crossed wires somewhere.

Just as I thought Lois, they are saying the size that is up was what the woman said it would be and that is a lie but I can't prove it, it was foolish of me not asking for written confirmation. I have checked prices and the price is about right for what we got so I don't suppose I can complain too much although I feel they have been deceitful in telling me it was a different height.

I'm sitting here in my dressing gown and it after 12, i'm still not feeling very good, I just hope it isn't the virus as there has been a big increase here in cases.

Take care xx

Was quite a cold day here today, winter is on it's way. It would be nice if we could have a few warmish days before it comes but not looking like it here.

I had my little grand daughter this afternoon, she will be two in January, she is a little angel and so good, not like the older one, she is a right handful, she is sitting next to me at the moment making a racket so I best try and get her into bed.

Hi Lois, Oh that's a shame that your Mum's home is in lock down again. Are you not even allowed to see her outside? I hope that changes soon. There has been an increase in cases here and they are saying not to visit other households. There will be so many businesses unable to survive this.

I'm really needing to get my hair cut, perhaps I will try for next week unless things get any worse.

I was hoping Colin would have come on to let us know if he got the scan and how he is feeling. I hope he is getting better too Lois, he has had so much to deal with.

I am going to bed now, I seen to get tired much earlier now, I used to be a late bedder but not anymore.

No doubt it is because of the virus Colin (any excuse) they are saying my daughter's leg is a leg ulcer now and with her being diabetic it is taking so long to heal and she is in a lot of pain with it but they say she can't go to the hospital to get it seen to. Our doctors are not seeing anyone at all and it worries me that so many illnesses will become serious because of the virus as people are not getting the care they need. Really hope you get home and get some help at home, at least the nurses came in to take my blood during lock down, i'm going to the clinic tomorrow for B12 and blood checks, strange the nurses can see people but the doctors surgeries can't.

Hope you are well Lois, my ankle is very swollen but the weather has been decent the last few days so that's something to be grateful for.

Hello,

Sorry for writting in this thread but it was the only active one I could find.

I'm a year 11 student currently working on a project for my GCSE's this year. My project aims at creating a product that aids the movement of people who suffer from mobility affecting diseases such as arthritis. Currently I'm trying to gather information about what problems do these people face in their everyday lifes, big or small, and what they would like from the product.

I would like to ask for your stories and personal experiences and any replies would be very much apreciated. I aim on using those replies as basis and evidence for my project. Please post your reply as a comment.

Hi, There are many different types of different types of arthritis. I have Rheumatoid arthritis which is an autoimmune disease and it affects many joints, it causes inflammation, stiffness and can affect mobility. At the moment I am waiting on an ankle replacement and I use a walking stick for stability. Regardless of what type of arthritis a person has it causes pain and can make doing every day things very painful. It can affect people of all ages, even children can be affected by it. I am not sure if this is of any help to you. Good luck with your GCSE's.

It is really getting her down, I really feel for her.

I think you are right, we have been told that we will hear what further restrictions will take place within the next 48 hours. It is a worry and probably get worse when the winter comes in. They say that vitamin D can help, I get it in my calcium tablets anyway.

That's good Lois, we haven't been offered it yet. My husband and daughter always get it but I didn't get it last year so not sure whether to get it or not as with the infusions it can make it a waste of time (the infusion removes B cells (memory cells) so by body maybe wouldn't remember getting it if i got flu. I have a telephone appointment on Wednesday with the Rheumatology so will see what they say.

My daughter has been getting food delivered from Hello Fresh so she referred me for a free box, it came today, they send all the ingredients and a recipe card to follow, it was actually quite nice so I may order again.

My sister in law is in a hospice (husband's sister) her son called yesterday to say the hospice called him so he has travelled up from Coventry, I couldn't believe it when she called me today, she was very difficult to understand, she is very weak so I think she will pass away very soon,I think she was calling to say goodbye.

Pleased to hear that you are improving Colin. Is the brace for your leg? it's understandable that you will be tired after what you've been through, just take it easy and look after yourself. I'm sure your wife will be taking good care of you.

My ankles are getting very sore again, the Rituximab does help but it must be wearing off now and not due again until December, just wonder when I will hear about the replacement.

I can't remember the name of the tablet they have given my daughter Colin but it's not pregabalin, if the one she has doesn't help I will say to her to ask for pregabalin.

It has been a decent day here, quite sunny. I haven't been across the door today though, I had bad pains in my stomach during the night and terrible indigestion so I didn't sleep well.

It is my little grand daughters 5th birthday on Wednesday, she is so excited at going to be 5 lol, pity there can be no party this year.

It's my sister-in-laws funeral on Thursday, her son lives in Coventry so he and the family
will come up on Wednesday, he said that twenty people are allowed to attend.

I hope Colin is ok as it has been a wee while since he has been on.

Well it's my bedtime now, if I manage to read a few pages of my book before I drop off I will be lucky.

Stay safe and sleep well xx

Hi Colin, sorry to hear you are having breathing problems. I dont know what is going on with GPs at the minute. I know it is difficult times but people still need medical care.

This year is going to be a year to remember for all of us all different reasons of course. I really hope next year is a better year for everyone.

My mum is on anti depressants now because she is missing her family so much. She stopped eating at one point. Her appetite is back but she is so low in herself.

Hi Lois, Hope you are doing ok. Oh no, I hope you have managed to get a dental appointment. I suppose it is classed as an emergency but our dentist isn't doing routine check ups. It is starting to annoy me that doctor's and dentists won't see patients, I think that is ridiculous. It means so many people will be missing things that are urgent and could cause more deaths. That's just my opinion. At least the opticians are open here as I had my eye test last week at Boots.

I have a blood monitoring machine too and my BP seems to vary a lot. I was getting worried as I had a lot of high readings and called doctor a while back and she said to monitor at different times of the day and it seems to be a bit better.

Hope you hubby gets his glasses sorted.

Hope you are ok Colin.

Hi Lucy, I had a telephone consultation on Tuesday. I had a chest infection. I wasn't worried I knew what it was . My hubby passed it on to me. I have to say it was a new GP he was really nice. Gave me some new cream for my psoriasis and it is working a treat.
My chest is feeling much better hubby and me have a emergency pack of antibiotics to keep for any further infections.
I have bought a blood pressure machine as well. Make sure you rest a while before you use it. I was doing the cuff up too tight and it was reading really high.
I also bought an oxygen reader for my asthma so I can check myself.
What we have to do. No drs to be seen just getting ridiculous now.
I skped my Mum yesterday and she cried again and said she was lonely and was missing us all. Lucy I don't know how I kept it together. It is so cruel for them all in care homes.

I spent friday last week in hospital , down for 15 min CT scan & endded up in A&E , at least they checked every thing , my GP thought blood clot but no , had flu vaccine day before had asthma problems & they thought my problems was asthma , getting better now but still not right

lois do feel for anyone like your Mum alone in the carehome but every where , no visits in hospitals , its cruel on them , those realy sheilding like myself sees no one apart from carers & nhs staff ,

as for the kids at uni , I would lock them all up & catch the virus , or be vaccinated because they will never do as they are told & would allow them to have a pretty much normal uni experiance

Hi Colin, good to hear from you. You have really had a tough time of it. Good no blood clots. Colin I know all about asthma I have just had a chest infection and my asthma is still not good. Just rest when it is bad and make sure you take inhalers when you need it. I have learned not to keep waiting in the hopes it will settle on its own. I am pleased you feel you are getting better now.
It is tough when anyone has to shield. We haven't really come out of shielding properly. It makes me nervous to be around people.

The young ones think they are invincible. I suppose we all did.
The trouble is they are mixing with all and everybody. You are right lock them down for a while.
At the minute our area is good but it wont be long before it isn't.

I am trying to see what can be done for Mum's 95th on November 5th. Nothing I bet. I will keep you posted on that one.

Hi Lois & Colin, Sorry to hear that you have both have been unwell. Glad to hear you got the chest infection under control Lois and a new cream for your psoriasis.

That's good that you had everything checked Colin, just take it easy, after what you have been through it can take time to get over it all.

Your mother has the same birthday as my daughter Lois, I hope they allow you to see her on the day, as Colin says I too feel it is cruel. It is outwith our control though. They have closed most things here as there are high numbers of the virus here. I have been doing online shops at Tesco and noticed that they are getting harder to get.

That's good that you got your flu jab Colin. We have no idea when we will get ours. I even called Boots today as thought if I could pay I might get it quicker but they said that there is a shortage and they are not taking any bookings just now. I have my infusion due in December and my grand daughter gets the live flu spray in her nose on 2nd November at school and that worries me a bit but not a lot I can do if they don't have it.

My ankle is really hurting now, I use my stick when I go out but even at that I am finding it hard. I have no idea when I am likely to hear now about getting it replaced. I am a bit frightened too of getting it done so not sure what is best lol.

Our GP gave us an appointment but Tesco had appointments weeks earlier. Not saying much for GPS when Tesco offer a better service.
Lets hope your infusion isn't disrupted as well as your ankle treatment.

I spoke to the care home today and we can see Mum through the office Window on her birthday. Better than nothing. They are going to do a birthday cake for her at tea time. All the residents will be there. So thats good. Hopefully she will have a good day.
I have been buying little bits that she talked about having as a young girl.
Lavender perfume-soap and the old fashioned powder with the fluffy puff.
I managed to find her a ceramic heart with 95yrs on it. I am going to send her a bunch of balloons. It is so hard trying to find things that she will identify with. Just hopeful we don't go into full lockdown and it changes the care homes mind. Fingers crossed.

It's a shame you can't get into see your Mum but as you say it's better than nothing and perhaps you will still be able to speak to her. That is a lovely idea getting her things she liked as a young girl. It will bring back nice memories and i'm sure she will have a great day. It's funny how seeing something we remembered as a child can bring back memories. Hi Lois, I enjoy a trip to the garden centre although I haven't been this year, to be honest not been very far this year at all. I see some of the shops have Halloween items on one side and Christmas decoration in the other.

I love a toasted teacake and a fish supper so good for you, saves cooking, we need a wee change and a rest from cooking now and again. I had lunch at my daughter's yesterday, just tuna and today I opened a tin of red salmon for lunch and my joints actually feel a bit better, coincidence perhaps, or perhaps watching diet could help.

The nights are getting dark so much earlier now, I think it's next week that the clocks go back.

Hi Colin,
Glad that you are OK, I really hope you keep a bit better.

I've had no word at all about the ankle, when I saw the surgeon back at the beginning of year he said it would be a few months but since the virus I guess it could be a while yet. I had one phone call a few months back just to say they hadn't forgotten about me. My area is quite bad now, the central belt and north lanarkshire have had all pubs, restaurants closed for the last two weeks and it has to continue. My daughter said one of the teachers at her school has to isolate for 2 weeks as her mother, father, brother and sister have all been diagnosed so it is likely she will have it too, my daughter was in the staff room with her yesterday so that is a bit of a worry.

Hope all is well with you Lois.

Nice to touch base with you all. Interesting you fell out with your consultant Lois. I haven't actually seen mine since October last year when this all started. Did have telephone appt with him in July when he refused MRIs and he got RA nurse to see me. Then cock up getting prescription for biologicals signed off. So I am the one hobbling up the stairs with a walking stick and use of bannister and a zimmer frame around the house (oh that makes me sound old). All I have done for the last year is go round and round in circles. Now have apt for 3 Dec when I hope I can get MRIs. If not I might be totally falling out with him too. Hm wonder if it is the same consultant !!!

Added a new med saying my RA was in overdrive. 3 months later told me I am going to take you off the meds I don't think you need them.
Chatted with my GP he said he would support me all the way so I came off all the meds and manage with Gabapentin and Co Dydramol. If things get bad again GP has assured me he will send me somewhere else.

Oh Lois, had to laugh at the "need to wear the same shoes as my husband" .... it's a classic line. Podiatrists love it and then flash a brochure for a shoe manufacturer under your nose. I have worn sensible Hotter shoes for years. Hasn't made an iota of difference and hubby wasn't impressed with the price tag. When lockdown eased (for a while anyway) got an apt with podiatrist. Ha, in the wrong place - "you need to go to surgical appliances for made to measure inner soles". It was news to the RA nurse too.

I feel safer in lockdown to be honest.

Hi Lois & Colin, Hope you are both doing ok. It has been another rainy day here and the forecast doesn't look great either but then it is November. It will be Christmas before we know it. This has been a strange year and a sad one too.

I have been doing some Christams shopping online, I even ordered a Christmas tree from my catalogue, I have a fibre optic one and had it for years so felt it time to renew. I just can't be bothered going into town anymore, I remember I used to love shopping in town. I am annoyed at our council as they are not putting xmas lights up in our village this year or a tree and it is the gala committee that pay for it but they are not allowing it. I would have thought this year of all years a bit of cheer is needed.

I made a big pot of soup today. I got a ham hough delivered in my Tesco shop this morning and it is very tasty, my daughter could smell it from outside and had two plates of it when she came.

Take care and again stay safe xx

Hi Lucy, I can smell that soup from here. Nothing nicer than a bowl of homemade soup when the weather is miserable.

I have ordered some of my presents on line as well. I cannot imagine what the shops will be like when they reopen down here.

The weather here is not great grey skies and plenty of rain although its not cold like a normal November.
What a shame they are not allowing the Christmas lights in the Village. You are right we do need cheering up what a miserable lot.

Hi Colin, No I haven't heard anything, I did get a courtesy call a few months back to let me know there would be a delay with the virus and nothing since. It is strange as the main problem with the ankle is when I sit down and then go to get up I can barely put my foot on the floor but once I'm up it isn't too bad but he did say it had to be done and he thought the shin could break again within a year, I'm hoping that's not the case and I use my stick all the time now and get up cautiously as the last time I jumped up and moved too fast so now I do things at a slower pace.

That was good that you saw your brother, was it all brothers you had or did you have sisters too, I had a sister in Canada and two brothers but just me that's left now.

I'm not too sure about the vaccine Colin, do you think it will be safe? with me being on rituximab it makes me a bit wary, I would like reassurance it was safe before getting it. My daughter and husband are keen to get it.

It's been very mild here today but a little showery.

Hope you are well Lois.

Hi Lucy and Colin,
I hope you and your famillies are all keeping well.
My daughter was in a car accident 12 days ago the car is a write off. She has a lot of shoulder and hip pain. She was side swiped by a car that also pushed her into some bollards. Thank God no one was badly hurt.
Like this year hasn't been bad enough. 2020 will definately go down in history.

I have spent the last three days in agony with my back. I missed a step coming out of my daughters house and jarred it. I just knew I was in trouble the pain that shot down my leg at the time was enough to make me let out a big gasp.
It is easier today so fingers crossed it is on the mend.
I have done most of my present buying for Christmas. No idea what to buy Mum. Any ideas?

Hi Lois, Oh, so sorry to hear that your daughter was in a car accident, thank goodness it wasn't more serious, although her car being a write off is bad enough but at least cars can be replaced. I hope her shoulder and hip are ok. I know when we had a bump in a taxi a few years ago my neck was painful for a while. You are right this year has been a bad one.

I hope your back is a bit better Lois, It can happen so easily, I still think of me missing a step in the hotel when we were in Dubai and falling and breaking my hip, it can happen in a second.

I have still quite a bit to do for Christmas although I have ordered most of it online. What about a collage for your Mum with all of the family or some music that she enjoys put together for her. It is difficult, perhaps some nice perfume or a soft fleece. I think I will give my girls money, my sister used to say that it was the gift that was never returned, although it is nice to unwrap a gift.

I have a feeling we might be going into level 4 on Tuesday although I hope not as I have a hairdresser appointment booked and also a little tag on my eye to be removed so possibly be put on hold again if it happens.

Take care and speak soon. xx

I spoke to my daughter today and she has been signed off sick for another two weeks. She is waiting for physio.

My back is much easier today. As long as I don't twist to far. Lucy I remember when you broke your hip. Poor you. Is your hip ok. My Mum had a hip replacement when she was 84 never mentions it. She always said it was no trouble.

Well it coming up midnight so I should be getting to bed. It takes me ten minutes to get comfy. LOL

It hasn't stopped raining in weeks here. It has warmed up a bit so something to be glad about.

I got a call at 3:45 this morning to say Mum had had a fall and was on her way to A&E. I couldn't sleep after that. I called at 6. They did a head scan because she had a big lump. That is all clear. Chest clear. The checked for heart attack that was clear but something else was raised so double checking the heart bloods. They did say it was raised like that before when she was in there. So really just double checking. All things being well she should get back to the care home today. Just so tired now. Maybe a sleep this afternoon will be in order.

Hello,

I'm a Cambourne Village College Y11 student currently working on a Design & Technology project that aims to design a product that aids the movement of people with mobility redusing chronic diseases.

About 2 months ago I asked for information on the subject in one of your forum's threads and I got a lot of useful information about how your disease effects your everyday activities. From those stories I gathered that canes are used oftenly by people suffering from arthritis as well as some of the everyday difficulties that you face, such as pains.

My current ideas aim to help my 79 year old grandma who is quite prown to slipping and hurting herself due to her chronic back and leg pains but, I would also like the products to help different cases of chronic diseases aswell.

Therefore, I would like to ask you to review some of my prototype ideas that I developed over the past months in order to further improve them. Please critise them and post what you like and don't like about them as well as giving feedback on what you would like to change about the product. However, also please take into consideration the fact that the products also aim to appeal to people who do suffer from a chronic disease such as back pains but not a specific type of arthritis.

Currently, I do not have a direct way of showing you the prototypes because the chat doesn't seem to allow posting of any image file. However, I can supply you with overviews of the 3 basic ideas I decided to design

1)A small, portable tripod extension that can screw or fit onto existing canes and can be folded for storage use. This idea aims to help arthritis patients that use a walking stick by being a cheap and versatile alternative to the already existing Quad Base canes that cost around 40.

2)A 15cm vertical handle that can be stuck with ease at flat surfaces and acts as a pivot aid when moving in close spaces such as bathrooms or kitchens. It's supposed to aid balance and grip so that users may get around easier with reduced pains and not get injured or hurt.

3)A telephone shaped handle that you can take anywhere and use to stick it to walls as a pivot or mobility aid. It aims to be more versatile than the idea above and to also be used in many different indoor spaces.

Any response or feedback is very much apreciated!
Have a good evening

Hi, I like the idea of number 3. It could allow people with mobility and back problems to get on and off a toilet seat with more ease and if the handle is shaped for them to grip easily then it would be useful, as long as it was safe and didn't come off when a person puts their weight on it and also easy to remove too. The other ideas seem useful too. Anything that improves independence is worthwhile. I have seen similar things from some catalogues that have gripper handles that stick to the shower but if your idea is a better shape for gripping then it could be a seller. Good luck and well done.

Hi Lois, Sorry to hear about your Mum, what a shame, I hope she is recovering well. It's horrible when the phone rings at that time in the morning as you always know something is wrong. No wonder you were tired, I hope you got a sleep but if like me you probably lay awake for hours worrying.

I pulled a big back filling out today, I vowed I wouldn't eat anymore of those hard gums they are called football gums from Home bargains and my favourites but no more, luckily I managed to get a dentist appointment for Friday.

I popped into M&S food today and surprisingly there were no queues, I don't know why they were so quiet, it's a retail park that I go to, I just went into Next, Home bargains and M&S oh and Boots where i bought a few wee gifts.

I just hope things don't get any worse with allowing visits at Christmas, I see the number in London are getting very high.

Lucy, I am fighting with the care home they told my daughter Mum is in isolation until the 28th December. I called and said I hope your not leaving her in her room on Christmas day. They said they were. I reminded them goverment rules for isolating is 10 days not 14. She had heard that but head office had not changed rules. I said these are goverment rules I appreciate you have to keep them safe but you didn't isolate Mum when she had her pacemaker changed. Covid and A&E patients are in total different areas. They are going to e mail head office. I reminded them you haven't put anything in place for visiting behind screens either. Another guidline they have ignored.
I said you are doing a good job of ruining my Christmas as well.
I wouldn't have known if my daughter hadn't had asked for a skype.
My Mum is already feeling it. They told her Lisa called and sends her love. Mum replied I don't care I just want to go home. This is not in her best interest at all. The could sit her on a table of her own Christmas day.
I am waiting for a call back. They only have 48 hours then I will be ringing again. So fed up with it all.
Good to hear you had a shopping day out. We went to our Matalans and Boots at our retail park and it was quiet there as well. It must be Amazon shopping eveyone is doing.

Hi Lois, It upsets me so much when I hear about the residents in care homes being isolated. They did that with my brother, they sent him to hospital 3 times in the month or two before he died and each time they isolated him in his room for two weeks, although they did say it was difficult as he wandered out his room, I thought it was so cruel and his meals were served in his room. They gave him drugs to make him sleepy and their work easier and he often sleep through meal time. You are right to be angry with them. This has went on too long for them not to see their families and surely with proper safety measures there is no reason not to see relatives, it is so cruel. I do hope you get somewhere with them and that you see your Mum for Christmas.

Hi nice to hear from you Colin. Good to see they are getting your meds sorted.

Well now for the care home Mum will be joining every one else on Christmas Day. So looks like my mentioning the isolation is only 10 days now worked. They are still not allowing visits as the area is in tier three. I understand that. After the New Year I will be getting on the case of why they are not setting up the room for visiting as promised.
I have just had s skpe with Mum God love her her face is a proper mess
A large bump on her forehead and two huge black eyes. She was in good spirits. She said these thing happen.

Well we are in tier 3 a bit harsh considering the north and west of hertfordshire is better than ever. They decided to lump us all together feels like we are being punished because the south east part don't know how to behave.

My youngest brothers wife has covid and is quiet unwell at home. Now he needs another test because he has developed a cough. He was isolating anyway because of exposure from his wife. It is such a worry.

I was meant to go for my infusion tomorrow but can't seem to shift this virus or whatever I have and had to get an antibiotic so the infusion has been cancelled again.

We had a light snowfall yesterday that has now turned to ice as it is so cold so I haven't ventured outside as terrified that I fall, luckily I had a Tesco shop delivered tonight but a few things that I wanted were unavailable so will probably have to get to a shop tomorrow, we have a Co-op close by so hopefully can get few things there unless this panic buying has started again.

I miss the little ones faces at Christmas. Magical times. Nice you had yourtwo girls there as well.
Sorry your infusion has been put off again. Lets hope those antibiotics get to work.

These tiers will never work. My Son Lived in tier 2 but was travelling into tier 4 for work. He is Management no working from home this time for him. Now he is in tier 4 also. So if you are travelling to work it will be passed around. The trouble wth London it is a commuter place of work. I know people work in London Monday to Friday then go home for the weekend.
So the the vast exit out of London was mostly people panicking to get home. You are right Colin it should be a total lockdown everywhere to make it work.

Lets hope the vaccines are rolled out fast and help get this under control.

Take care.

Hi Colin, It's the same here, all in lockdown. It has went on so long but this new strain is meant to be more contagious. Sorry to hear your chest is bothering you. I am finding it hard to get rid of what I have, was given a 5 day course of antibiotics but think i should have been given more.

Are you taking Vitamin D Colin? it is supposed to help. I think tomorrow has to be minus 5 here so will be staying in again although no where to go and my ankle is sore to walk far anyway.

Hope all is well with you Lois.

Hi Lucy and Colin,
Firstly Colin sorry to hear your chest is playing up again. Don't leave it to chance maybe a chat with the GP to get some medication. Definitely use the inhaler it will help ease that breathing.
Colin the younger ones think they are invincible. They just don't seem to get the fact they pass it on. I hope things have settled in your brothers family.
Take care wish you well.

Hi Lucy, I never understand 5 day antibiotics not long enough never seem to work for me either.
I was watching your weather earlier today. I said to my hubby I didn't envy any of you. I hate thd cold. It has been raining and hailstones here.
my joints have been playing up and my back feels broken. I have been taking it easy and sitting by the log burner.
Every one in lockdown again it is beginning to feel normal now.
Lets hope this vaccine will do the trick.

Hi Lois, Poor you suffering with your back, I hope it has eased a bit. Are you able to have a hot bath? and then perhaps a rub onto it. I can't get into a bath anymore and haven't managed for years now so just make do with a shower. It is so cold here and very icy so I am quite happy to stay inside. It would be lovely to have some nice sunshine and heat into our bones, ah well we can always dream. Talking about dreaming I am going to bed now with my hot water bottle. Take care and stay safe as this is getting very worrying now with this new strain xx

Hi Lucy, I only have a walk in shower now. Like you I can't get in a bath any more.
I have been using heat pads and hot water bottles. It does help.

My eldest Granddaughter has passed covid to her Dads partner and her Mum. (My son is divorced)so two household affected. My son is taking a test today. Both of my eldest grandkids work in NHS hospitals so I'm not shocked this has happened they are tested every three days. I can't believe she went to my Son's at the weekend feeling unwell and having a cough.
My grandaughter lives with her boyfriend so that's another house that needs to be tested. So that's how fast things can escalate.
I am glad to say I havent seen any of them since before Christmas. I had only seen my Son briefly to exchange presents.
It is scary now.
No sign of vaccine yet. I know it will be a while before we will be anywhere near safe. It would make me feel better when we can see things happening on a larger scale.
Oh well i suppose i need to go make dinner.

I received an appointment in for my infusion for Friday so just hope I'm ok to get it this time.

The weather has been so cold here, I think there has to be a bit of a thaw tomorrow so here's hoping.

It's 11.30pm so I am going to get into bed now. I bought 25 books from Ebay a wee while ago so they will keep me going lol.

These younger ones need to start taking it serious a Consultant was saying on the news they are admitting 19 to 30 year olds with this new strain.
My older brother got his vaccine today at his GP surgery. Mum hopefully got hers friday. Just hope they get round to all of us soon.
I have a few new books to read you have just reminded me. I put them away just before Christmas. I will get them out tomorrow.

My youngest brother and his wife have both had Covid and are suffering long term effects. His wife is constantly tired my brother tired cough lingering and a bit of shortness of breath. Unfortunately my brothers wife picked it up at work.

Colin so pleased to hear you feel better. Thank goodness you are covid free. It is such a worry now.

My eldest Son was involved in a hit and run today. Car is a write off but thank God He and his partner are both ok.
He is just waiting to see what the Police are going to do. My sons partner got the registration number.. seems like the other driver had no tax or insurance.
My grandson that tested negative is now positive.
I would just like a bit of a break from all the drama.

On a good note My Mum has had her vaccine the only problem now she thinks we can go visit her. Bless her.

Hi Lois, Oh my goodness, your luck is as bad as mine at the moment. As you say, as long as they are both ok but not nice and very stressful. The police should be able to trace them. I hope the insurance gives him another car to use. This virus is very worrying the the way it is spreading, I hope your grandson isn't too bad with it.

My daughter lives in a mid terrace house and has a shared chimney with her neighbour and bits were falling off it, her insurance isn't going to cover it so a bill for us as she hasn't got the cash. Part of our wall is falling down and the builder is looking for over 4,000 and our garage door is broken, lucky white heather. True what they say that is comes in threes.

I managed to get my infusion this morning so hope no ill effects this time.

I have been reading a bit on the vaccine in people on Rituximab and it is saying it is not very effective so I am now wondering whether I should get it.

You are right Colin, when you own your own house there is always something that costs money. They have removed the stack as neither her or her neighbour used the chimney. Her house is over 100 years old and still has a slate roof so hopefully it will last a few years yet as it has been one thing after another.

We were saying the same yesterday it didn't seem anywhere near as bad in the summer. Sitting in the sun was a bonus. We are already planning what we are going to do with the garden in the summer. LOL

My youngest Sons partners Mum went into hospital for some tests in December. She caught covid while she was in there and has sadly lost the fight. The poor girl is in bits. When it gets to the point you actually know someone that has passed away it becomes so much more real.
I was hopeful this year was going to be better. Silly me.

On a lighter note I skped Mum she looks well and was quiet chatty. Talking about where she lived as a child. Letting out little secrets love her. Haha her sister would not be amused I am sure. She showed me her nails she had manicured and her new haircut. One of the carers used to be a hairdresser. She looks like she has put weight on. Her blouse looked tight.

Hi Lois, I got an appointment in this morning about the vaccine for 11th February and hubby the next day and they are doing it at the sports centre 5 mins from us so certainly handy enough. I called rheumatology today and left a message on their answer machine so they should call back within the next day or so.

That is sad about your son's partner's Mum, it's terrible when people die because of it. I had a call this morning from the orthopedic dept about my anklle, saying it was a courtesy call and asking if my condition had changed and if I would be willing to accept a cancellation or go in at short notice, I said I would and then she asked if I wanted to be kept on the list due to the virus so I am not too sure the purpose of the call as she said they are not doing many ops at the moment so not sure why she asking if I would accept a cancellation. After thinking about it I think it would be foolish to go in at the moment so not sure if I should phone or just wait and see if they do contact me soon.

Awe, that is lovely that your Mum is looking so well and a boost for her getting her hair and nails done (better than we can get) lol.

Very cold here today and more sleet than snow, although my husband had to go to get some photos for his driving licence as he has to renew it every 3 years and said there was a lot of snow lying and only a ten min drive.

Hi Colin, try to keep your spirits up. I am now feeling shut up and need to get out and about.
I just keep telling myself it wont be long now.

Can you not get your steps turned into a ramp. This is what had to happen so my father-in-law could get out in his wheelchair. It is so difficult and of course the money not easy.

I hope you son hasn't got Covid again. He was so ill the last time you would think it would have given him some protection.
Take care with your contact as you don't want to be ill again.
Fingers crossed for your son.

Glad to hear your GP is coming out to you. It would make sense to vaccinated your wife at the same time. It just gives you a sense of relief.

Thats good you have the ramp done. Get your wheelchair and then when we are safe to go out you won't know your self

Hi Guys, Hope you are both doing alright. That's good your son didn't have the virus Colin. I am meant to get the vaccine on Thursday but since having got the infusion I have the same thing back, constantly blowing my nose and feel all congested so may have to call doctor on Monday.

The weather here is miserable, so cold and wet so I am not even trying to venture outside, I think I am getting so used to being locked up it has become a way of life now.

I have put on over a half stone with this lockdown but who cares, we need something to occupy us lol. I sent away for a soap making kit, just to amuse myself and the little one lol. Perhaps that will be my new hobby lol.

Have as good a weekend as possible, keep warm and eat chocolates or drink wine or whatever takes your fancy. I really think I must be bored lol. xx

It's the boredom. We do have to have some kind of treats.

Hi Lois, It is so cold here today but I decided I had to get out so wrapped up and had my woolly hat on and drove to the loch (only a 5 mins drive) and had a wee walk there,
it was freezing but good to get out for some air.

I was thinking today how lovely it would be to sbe able to sit in a bath and have some candles lit but unfortunately that's not possible. The last time I tried a bath I panicked as thought I wasn't going to get out it.

Hi Lucy, we only have a walk in shower now. I can't get in the bath anymore.
I do miss a long soak in the bath.

Lucy I am laying here in agony. I missed my footing on the stairs and managed to save myself. Somehow I have banged my toes.
My big toe feels like I have rebroken it. I broke it about 25yrs ago. My toes are all bruised I can't put any weight on it.
I don't think there is any point going to A&E they don't do anything with toes.
I will see how it goes.

So nice to get some fresh air yesterday it was sunny so we put our jackets on and did a bit of clearing up in the garden.
Sounds lovely having a walk around the Loch the fresh air is just what's needed.

Hi Lois, You must have needed the sleep and it won't do you any harm, although I know I often waken at 5am but feel it's too early to get up and when I waken a few hours later I feel worse for it.

I called the doctor this morning for an antibiotic as this infection or whatever it is that I have doesn't seem to be going away and all the mucus is making me feel sick. The receptionist called me back saying I he wants to speak to me so have an appointment for him to call tomorrow. I just hope he doesn't suggest going for another covid test. I have delayed the vaccine until next week.

I can imagine how sore your toes must be as it is just the big toe that I have bruised but it's right on the joint and sore when I walk and it throbbed all night in bed, you must be in agony.
Perhaps some arnica cream would help.

Pleased to hear that your toe is getting there Lois and that's good that you got your vaccine Colin. My daughter got hers yesterday and said her head is a bit sore. My husband gets his tomorrow morning.

I had a call today from the doctor saying I had to contact the covid number as they had called the doctor looking for my telephone number but they said they would get me to call them, I eventually got through and the girl wasn't sure why they had called but thinks probably to rearrange my appointment, she said the weather has probably caused problems but wasn't sure. she gave me another number to call and when I did they said I was number 90 in the queue so I hung up. I called the doctor again and asked why they didn't just give my number to the person and she said they don't give telephone numbers out as it could be anyone saying they were someone they weren't. I will have to try and get through on Monday, so annoying though as they are moving from where I was to go and now means travelling a good bit away.

The snow is still lying here although more like ice now, I think next week has to be much milder so hopefully it will thaw out.

Take care and have a good weekend and no falls or bumps xx

So that doesn't make me feel safe at all.

I skped my Mum yesterday she seems so sad. It is making me angry now. I asked what are you going to do about visiting once Mum has had both vaccines and so have I. They have no idea. She was saying it will be difficult because some have refused the vaccine. Well I will have a lot to say if they think that is going to stop visits.

Hi Lois, My goodness, no wonder you are getting fed up. I heard Nicola Sturgeon on today talking about care homes and how they hope to make an announcement next week, I can imagine how I would feel if my brother was still alive. I know that I would be livid too. It has went on way too long for the poor people in care homes, especially when they have dementia and don't fully understand what's going on.

The primary schools are going back here on Monday, well the P1-3, I am a bit nervous at that as I too am meant to be shielding, and yet not allowed in care homes.

I managed to make an appointment for the vaccine for next Monday, it is about a 15 min drive away and when I explained that I was on antibiotics she said "Oh I'm not sure if you have to wait a certain time then" she tried to find out but couldn't get an answer so said to call my doctor and ask. I will do that tomorrow but to be honest I don't think he will know. I had to call and ask for another two days of antibiotics as he had only given me another 5 day course and I knew that wouldn't be enough to shift it and he refused so I told the receptionist I didn't agree with his decision, a few hours later she called me back and said she had spoken to the other doctor and they had left me them, i will finish the course tomorrow so am hoping it will be ok to get the vaccine on Monday.

The weather here today was quite pleasant, much milder, this is shrove Tuesday so only 6 weeks until Easter.

Take care Lois and keep your chin up, surely this can't go on much longer xx

I hope you get your Vaccine on Monday.I don't understand why they don't know if it is ok for you to have the vaccine. You need it if the the little ones are back in school.
What good is a five daycourse of antibiotics never worked for me in the past either. I am glad you stood up for yourself. It is just awful not being able to see a GP. My psoriasis is bad at the moment and talking on the phone to a receptionist is useless I have managed to get some sreroid cream for it now. So it will be sorted in no time now.

Lucy what another year it has been.
I am 70 on the 27th another milestone spent away from everyone I think thats why I feel a bit fed up. What with the 50th wedding anniversary as well. It's not like it will happen again. Still I count my blessings for what I have.
I didn't make pancakes I only ever made them for my kids when they where younger. I am not that keen and my hubby doesn't like them at all.
I am keeping my fingers crossed things will be easier at Easter. Maybe dinner together with the family. Not too much to ask for.

Lois as for your mother , think what is best for her & tell your brothers it wont be long before they can see her as lockdown ends , you are only talking 3-4 months from now till things can start to get back to normal

I am much the same , got some sulfasalazine to take but only immune suppressant I am on plus they started me on a injection for diabetes , thought it was a pen which would have been great but !!!

semaglutide helps with weight loss as well so thinking this could be good & what can go wrong !!!! . Any way watch several video's & went for it , told on other injections you have o jab it , this needle is huge (about half a inch) so set it up & jabbed it & bent the needle , one nice bruise on injection site , second time gone better , offer to get the boss a nurses uniform & do it but she declined for some unknown reason

I have asked about fusing the ankle but the surgeon said it is too far gone and will have to be replaced, it should have been done last year and no idea when they will do it now.

A couple of times she was pointing and laughing saying just look at her. There was no one there. This is not a good sign with dementia.
I just said to my hubby as long as she is still happy I am just going to cling to that.

I am going back in two weeks as my brothers are going next week.

I am still in trouble with my back. I am thinking of buying a back support to see if it helps. They are roughly 20 so not too expensive if it doesn't help.

Well I am in bed so time to get some sleep hopefully. My sleep is affected with my back pain.

Nite take care xx

Hi Lois, Pleased you got to see your Mum, you are right, if she is happy and well cared for then that's the main thing, It will have been strange for her too not seeing the family. I remember before my brother went into the care home he asked me who the old woman was that had been sitting on the chair in his house, there was no one there, then I remembered that I had been sitting on it a few minutes before so perhaps it was me he was talking about lol.

We will try anything if we are in pain so perhaps a support will help, it's worth a try. I bought a small rubber ball and when the muscle in my back goes I sit with it pressing into my back and it does seem to help.

I remember reading in one of your posts that it was going to be your 70th birthday I had looked back to find the post as I wanted to wish you a Happy birthday but couldn't find it. If you have had it then I hope you had a lovely day.

I better get moving as an appointment with the chiropodist this morning and the dentist this afternoon, I am not looking forward to the dentist as it's a 40 minute appointment and I know when I have sat that time I can hardly move when I get up, ah well it has to be done and it looks a lovely morning, lovely blue sky.

Hope all goes well for you at your appointment. The charges have gone up as well I noticed.

I had a lovely birthday thankyou. I was spoilt thats for sure. My youngest son was upset we couldn't all go out for dinner.
He said after our anniversary it is getting to him all the important celebrations are being missed.
What can we do hopefully it will soon be better.

Hi Lois, My tooth has been a bit annoying since I went so I'm hoping it will be ok, they were dressed as though they were ready to go deep sea diving with what looked like snorkels on their faces (not ideal at all). I couldn't make out what they were saying.

It was a beautiful day here today and quite warm too, it made a lovely change.

Try to rest it as much as you can.

Life has to get back to some kind of normal surely. The vaccine roll out seems to be going pretty well. Lets hope it carries on that way.

It was a beautiful day here as well. We are going to a garden centre tomorrow. We have decided if it's too busy we will leave. We have lots of garden centres so hopefully one of them should be less busy.

the Boss & myself had no side effects from the vaccine ( astra) but couple of younger members of my family had a reaction , they are both around 30 , they seem to say the younger ones may have a more active immune system & so have more side effects

How many cat do you have Colin? My last cat was also 17 when she died Lois, she didn't seem to like men and would only sit on my knee and would scratch my husband when he went near her. It's funny as my daughter's wee dog growls at her partner when he come close to them, she had him in Spain for a few years when she lived alone with him and has never really taken to her partner and yet he is a lovely wee dog, we had him overnight last night.

I am going to call the dentist tomorrow as my gum is very sore, he told me on my last visit that I had had root treatment in the tooth a while back. I remember him telling me at the time that it was very difficult and didn't work out too good so now I am wondering if it would be better out but no doubt he will want to charge for the crown whether I get it or not as I am meant to go back next Friday to get it

I heard that we might have to wear masks for years to come, I had hoped when we were all vaccinated things would have got back to normal. ah well, time will tell.

Hi lucy, that doesn't sound very nice having a sore gum. Maybe the dentist has grazed it doing the treatment. Lucy every tooth I have had a crown done it hurts for a while then settles down. Fingers crossed this will happen for you.

Animals are so funny. I do believe they get jealous. My last dog was definitely jealous of all my grandkids. She would always push her way through and put her head on my lap.

The mask will be worn all this year and next year I think. The trouble is pepple will slowly start to travel abroad (can't blame them) not all the countries are vaccinated anywhere near that this country is.
Lucky for us Boris was on the ball with the early ordering.

So it drags on. One day hopefully we can go back to some normal.

Hi Lois & Colin, I hope you are both doing ok. Things here haven't been great. We were having dinner on Saturday night (rib-eye steak) My husband had hardly started it when he felt he was choking, we tried all the usual things to try to dislodge it but it wasn't working so I had to call an ambulance. He was taken in and given a muscle relaxant injection but they had to try again and finally it moved. He called around 3am and I went to pick him up, I hate night time driving as my eyes are not the best and it was a wet and windy night. He seems to be over it now but was very frightening. It is because of the Parkinson's as this happened once before when we had went away for an overnight stay and again he ended up in the hospital.

Today I went to Morrison's, and they have changed the carpark as they have added a McDonalds and I didn't see a disable space so I parked as close to the shop as I could get and when I returned to my car I couldn't get the door open wide enough as someone had parked over the lines and so close to my car. What a sight I must have looked trying to get my feet in, I had to lay down on the seat and lift my legs I ended up hurting my ankle as I had to twist it. I then noticed someone sitting in the car at the other side, I hope they didn't video me lol.

It is a lovely part of the country where you live so you probably will get crowds. I see London had beautiful weather yesterday and parks etc looked mobbed. It is still very cool here, unfortunately we don't get the nice weather as often.

Hi Guys,
Your poor hubby Lucy. It must be scary for you both. I am sending you both a big hug.

Colin, our little village is so pretty having a lake at the bottom with Swans and all types of ducks. We havebeen absolutely swamped with walkers and families all through lockdown.
The biggest thing is the rubbish they leave behind. I might add the people that live here have to clear it up.
So I understand how you don't want anyone coming down to where you live.
I promise I won't come this year.

Lucy Colin is right you must get your ankle done as soon as you can. No good neglecting ourselves.
I also have been in a big flare up. I am so tired but battling on.

Had another visit with Mum on Monday she was a bit fed up I interfered with her Easter decorating. She told the carer I suppose I can
spare a few minutes. You just have to Love Her. Although after a couple of minutes she was chatting away. She looks well. She told me when the sun is out she is sitting in the garden when I come.

I suppose I should get some dinner on.

The weather here has been dreadful, it has been so cold, wet and windy. Such a shame for the kids especially when it is the Easter holidays and everything closed. We did have one lovely day last week and managed to sit out, it was lovely getting a little bit of sunshine.

Have you had your second vaccine yet? My youngest daughter is 30 and had her first one 2 weeks ago, it is worrying when you hear about blood clots in the brain and now the under 30's haven't to get it. I don't know whether she should get the 2nd one now, she will have to decide for herself.

To be honest I am not worried about the Astra Zennica jab. I was watching some young women in their 30s being interviewed and they all said The Contraceptive Pill cause blood clots and they still take it. They like your daughter have had the first jab and are still going to have the second one.
I hope your daughter gets the advice she needs to make a choice. Just so many worries still going on.

Just heard from the care home indoor visits are allowed for the same two people. The rest of the family can still have visits in the garden room with seperation by perspex.

Hi Lois & Colin, Hope you are both doing ok. That's good that you have had the 2nd vaccine Lois. I got my appointment in but it's a distance away, about an hours drive if traffic heavy so I am not going, I will try and change it and even at that i'm not sure as I have been so sore since getting it.

I had a call from hospital about ankle, she said I am priority, I am nervous at getting it done as some days it doesn't feel too bad, I am just frightened I will be left in a worst state.

I went out today with my daughter, it was lovely to see most of the shops open and surprisingly they seemed fairly quite. On Saturday she arrived with the wee one and her partner and said Sophie has something to tell you (Sophie is 2 years old) her Dad removed her jacket and her tee-shirt read "I am going to be a big sister" I must admit I was a bit stunned, although happy for them. The baby is due in October.

My other daughter is in hospital (the one that is diabetic) she is having some problems and has got so thin. Only one can visit so that makes it even more stressful, I am going to call tomorrow and ask if I can share with her Dad as it is too much for one person.

Oh, I got my handrail fixed, I couldn't believe it when they arrived at 8.30am the following morning, I didn't expect such quick service.

It was back to winter again here today, unbelievable after the beautiful weather last week.

I hope your Mum is doing well Lois.

Hope you have managed to sort things out, Colin and can soon get outside again.

Your ankle operation is entirely your choice Lucy. You have to be sure it is what you want. I understand why you are unsure. Have you aked what the success rate is. Decisions decisions.

Wow another grandchild. How lovely.

That was good service handrail fixed in 24hours.

The weather has changed here as well.

I had an indoor visit with Mum yesterday it wasn't what I expected. I thought it would be in her room but it was in the care home training room. Not at all personal. Mum's dementia is so bad now at least some of the time she knows who I am.
I feel like I have already lost my Mum. Every time I think of the past it makes me feel like crying. This is such a cruel disease as you know first hand.

Hi Lois, I managed to get my husbands changed to a place a bit closer, still about a half hours drive away but I haven't even called to try and change mine with everything that has been going on, it worries me a bit though as I have read when you are on rituximab it doesn't work as well anyway, I will have a think about it but don't want to feel any worse than I am.

I am pleased about the new baby, I think she thinks I will be looking after this one too, I haven't even asked her what she is intending doing and she will have a year off so it is a good bit away and anything can happen in that time. I just feel I am getting too old to be looking after babies and not fit for it anymore.

If I get the call for the ankle replacement I will probably panic, I just wish I knew someone that has had one and how it went. I do struggle when I get off a chair as I feel my ankle won't take my weight but once I get moving it eases a bit.

It is a shame that things aren't as they were before all this covid. When I was reading about your Mum I felt tears in my eyes too, I still get upset when I think of the way my brother was left alone with no visitors, they knew he was ill and it was so cruel to leave it until the day he died to allow me in.

I called the hospital about visiting my daughter as they were only allowing one visitor in and it had to be the same person, I explained that I have mobility problems and my husband has problems too and asked if we could share it, so they are allowing that which is good, my daughter is in a side room alone so think that's why they permitted it.

Hi Colin, I asked about a fusion last year but the surgeon said it is too far gone and needs an ankle replacement. It worries me as I don't know anyone that's had one and it is more complicated than a hip or knee op.

It would be good if you could get to one of the mobility centres and see them all, I wonder if they could come to you and advise, it might be worth asking and then trying one out to see if it suits.

My daughter was in hospital for almost 4 weeks and just got out last Monday and ended up back in again on Wednesday. I had to call an ambulance as she was so sick. It has been difficult as she has been so ill. We didn't know if she was going to make it or not. As well as her diabetes she is anorexic and when I saw her yesterday she looked quite yellow. I called and spoke to the consultant today and her liver was a bit off but hopefully they are on top of it now, I just hope she manages to recover from it.

It is like winter here and this is the holiday weekend coming up. May is usually a lovely month too.

Hi Colin, That is good to hear that you have managed to get out, the weather is lovely now so I hope you are getting out for your Vitamin D. How far are you from the sea? I wish I lived close to the sea.

Lois, I'm sorry to hear that your Mum has sepsis, I hope she is ok, what a shame.

My daughter is still in hospital and I think she will be in for a while yet. At least she isn't looking yellow anymore but still so thin, she has lost a stone being in that she couldn't afford to lose, but she looked a little better tonight.

It has been a lovely day here, so warm, and I believe tomorrow and Wednesday have to be warm too, makes a nice change.

Take care xx

Hi guys , sorry to hear about your family in hospital
Lois , I have had sepsis twice now , got lucky last year because they found the right antibiotics , her age wont help but they can do wonders so only can hope for the best & she is in the best place

Lucy , really sorry your daughter going through it , just hope she makes a good recovery

We live about two miles away from the coast , never very far away in Cornwall , we got some nice places close like Mevagissey & Charlestown Harbour where they film loads of tv shows/films , would love to get down there later this year

guys take care & hope your love ones make full recovery xxx

Where you live sounds lovely Colin, I love the sea and would love to live close to it. My brother lived by the sea and I miss going to see him.

How is your Mum Lois? I hope things are ok with you.

My daughter is still in hospital and looks like she will be for a while. I miss her popping in as she just lives across the road. Such a worry.

Hi Lucy, i really hope your daughter is well soon. You must be so worried. I don't know how I would cope but we are Mums and we just do. Please look after yourself.

My Mum has come a long way with her sepsis more or less over it. There are now other set backs she cannot swallow so eating has been non exsistent. They are going to try with yoghurt but there is the worry it
might go into her lungs.
She did know who I was today but she just sleeps the whole time. My mum is so thin she was tiny to start with. It is awful to see.
I just don't know what to think.

Take care pop in when you can and let me know your daughter is.

Hi guys , so sorry your family is still suffering

Lois , I know what sepsis can do , the eating problems goes with strokes more than sepsis , if you recovers from sepsis , that is impressive , the hospitals are so good & pleased you can see here , my thoughe are with you

Lucy , dont know what to say , just wish her are good recovery , dont know what the hospital visit are like , but I was not allowed any last year & its very hard even though we could talk & us whats-up , had no telly , just hard

I am fine - ish , so take care & hope a quick recovery for everyone xxx

Hi Lois, I hope your Mum is ok, that's good to hear that she has almost recovered from sepsis. It is a worry when they tell you that they have problems swallowing. They said the same about my brother but when he went into the hospital they said he was eating fine. It is a worry though.

Hope you are doing alright Colin.

My daughter is still struggling on, she is getting fed up now but think it will be a while yet.

Hi Lucy, your daughter must be fed up it's been a while for her. I hope she makes a good recovery. It must be a worry for you.

Mum hasn't had a good outcome. The sepsis sent her dementia/alzheimers to just about the worst. She came back to the care home for palliative care today.
She is so weak now. It is heart breaking and such a cruel disease as you know.
I am keeping busy just because I don't know what else to do.

Colin I hope you are ok.

Hi Lois, I'm sorry to hear that your Mum isn't doing so well. It is a horrible disease and we feel so helpless when it affects the ones that we love. At least the care home she is in seem to look after her well.

My daughter has been moved to another hospital and she is hating it. I am not allowed in for 5 days as she has to isolate. I had to call tonight as she has not been given her insulin and her sugar levels are very high, she has also been told she has to stay in bed and she is not happy at that, it is a horrible time for us.

Try and take some time for yourself Lois, life can be a bitch at times.

Lois , I am so sorry the news about your Mother , we was told the same with my Mother-in-Law three years ago , hope they let you all see her , Sepsis is hard for anyone to recover from & sorry its affected her this way . Make sure they look after her , being her own home they should , think my Mother-in-Law was just treated as a number , in a box room , unable to look out , has your brother been able to see her , I will be thinking of you & your family

Lucy , I am sorry the way your daughter has been treated , they are normally so good with diabetes .
I used to get tested min 4 times a day & some times a lot more , but I got type2 & know very little about type 1 , just hope she can come home soon , its seem cruel the way they are treated in hospital now

I am ok , been out again to my car but some one had parked infront so could not take the car out ,
take care & thinking of you all xxx

Hi Lucy, what a shame they have moved your daughter. 5 days isolation for what reason surely she was covid tested regularly in hospital. Mum was checked every three days
As for her not recieving her insulin what next. Lucy chin up lets hope she is home soon with her family.

Colin typical some one patking in your way. Its good to hear you can get out now.
Glad you are ok.

Mum back in the care home one day and they managed to get her to eat and drink today.
Amazing considering the hospital couldn't do that in the whole time she was there.
I am staying realistic about the whole thing. I am going for a visit tomorrow.
I will get a better understanding as to how she is now.

Hi Lois & Colin, Hope you are both doing ok. How is your Mum Lois? My daughter has been moved back to the main hospital as her potassium was very high, she is getting so fed up with it all.

Colin, Not so long back I was at Morrison's and someone had parked their car so close to mine I couldn't get into it, I ended up squeezing myself in and really hurt myself. Don't allow it to put you off.

At least the weather here isn't too bad and I think tomorrow has to be warm. I haven't been anywhere except the hospital but it will be nice to see some sunshine.

Are you going to manage a wee break away Lois? I doubt we will but even a night or two away would be nice but very difficult at the moment.

Hi Lois, Good to hear from you. It will take time but it will get a bit easier. A wee break away will do you good, especially with the weather being so nice.

My daughter isn't doing too good at all. Last week she had bad pains in her stomach and was very sick, they finally sent her back to the main hospital where she still is.

I had a missed call today about my ankle op, I thought it was just what they call a courtesy call again but then I seen I had a message with an appointment for Wednesday for a pre-op. It couldn't have come at a worse time as I am the named person as a visitor to my daughter and I wouldnt be able to drive for a while, it is also the school holidays, I have my infusion booked for the 30th then the 13th August and I believe there would need to be a time period between the two. I was just saying to my husband today that it hasn't been too bad lately, I had bought some trainers a few weeks ago and I have noticed a difference since wearing them so perhaps that's why.

I better get to my bed as it is 1.30am, I didn't realise it was so late. Take care xx

Your daughter is really going through it.
Do the hospital have a plan for her. I really do wish her well.

You have so much going on Lucy remember to take a little time for you.
Typical that the appoinment comes at such an awkward time.
Glad the trainers are helping.

Hi Lois & Colin, Hope you are both ok. I got a call from the orthopedics on friday so have a pre-op assessment for tomorrow, I am hoping the op won't be too soon as I have so much going on at the moment. I will go and see what they say. I called to postpone it but they said to come as they are wanting to see what hospitals to use for patients (whatever that means) and it wouldn'e be before September.

Hope you are both enjoying this lovely warm weather, Enjoy your break Lois, I am thinking of booking a couple of days away in Edinburgh and take the wee one to Portobello as they have a beach there and not far from Edinburgh. xx
