Subject: diagnosis

Hi , I went for a scan 6 years ago and wad informed that I had arthritis in both hips . At the time I didn't really have many symptoms, its been getting worse over the last 2 years . My gp doesn't seem to take me seriously, and my knees are actually the most affected area now , I get a different range of symptoms like , pain , swelling , hot to touch but feeling of coldness , numbness , pins and needles, sometimes my knees and just above go very dark purple in colour.S my dad and nan both developed rheumatoid arthritis in hips and knees I was told this is probably. Gp only gives me low dose cocodomol , No other tests have been done , and this really is bad pain now , struggle standing, walking far and sitting / laying down. Any advice please.

You should definitely get your doctor to refer you to a rheumatologist especially if RA is in the family. Has your doctor never taken a blood test? this is something he should do as it will give you an idea of the inflammation in your blood but he should definitely refer you as there is a lot they can do to help if it is RA. Good luck
