Subject: Occupational Health Experiences

Hi

I just wondered if anyone with RA had been referred to Occupational Health and what their experience with them had been?

My boss has referred me and I'm not sure what to expect!

Cheers

I saw one about two years ago and she was very helpful they can supply you with things that you may need to make things easier ie wrist casts to wear in bed, adaption for toilet seat to make it higher, grips for cutlery etc. Mine also made me an app to have special insoles for my shoes, it is worth going just to see if they have got anything that can help make day to day living easier. Hope this helps.

Thanks for those replies :) I have been off work on a couple of occasions - the last one for 2 weeks because of a badly swollen knee. I think my MTX meds are starting to kick in as (touch wood!) I've not had the usual weekly joint aching - it seems to have settled into my wrists and knees and has stopped hopping around the rest of my joints.

I'm hoping that OH will be able to educate my boss too! It sometimes feels like he's got me ready for the scrap heap and I feel fine at the mo!

mmm little worrying!

Hi, I have been a few times over the years for advice on how to do things so you make things easier for yourself. I also had a referral for a shoe insole to help with the walking. Sometimes I have found the appoinment more more useful than other times - it depends if they can help.
