Subject: Enbrel
I have RA 6 years. I'm on 15mg MTX and have just started Enbrel injections. On my third injection, not noticed any difference yet except for the lumpy red rash around the injection area. How long does it take to kick in? My feet are the worst, constant throbbing and stiffness. Any comments on Enbrel and how it has helped them gratefully received, thanks!

Hello Rachel Ive been taking Enbrel since November 2012, I was very lucky and felt the benefit the next day. At my first twelve week appointment was in remission and thankfully I still am. No pain relief required. Ive read on various forums that Enbrel has helped lots of others with RA, they like me say its given them their life back. I know that everyone is not so lucky like I was for it to start its magic straight away, but hang on in there and give it time to work. Miracles do happen, sometimes it takes a little longer so be patient....yes we have to be the patient patient with RA drugs :]. My consultant told me that if it works it is one of the better anti tnf drugs to go on because our body does not build up so many antibodies against it to stop it working. Want to add that I have had no side effects at all. Good Luck xx

That's great Paula! So delighted it gave you relief. Fingers crossed it starts working for me. I feel a bit more positive now. My consultant did say if it didn't work, it could be nerve damage in my feet. We shall see x Good luck and cheers for posting xx

Hi Paula, I think it's meant to work quite quickly. I was on Enbrel for around 3 months but unfortunately it didn't help me. I am now on rituximab and it has worked well. I hope the Enbrel does work for you and I don't want to dishearten you, I just want you to know if it doesn't help you then there are other drugs you can get. Good luck with it. x

Cheers Lucy. I have had my fourth injection and so far no joy. Hopefully they can try something else. Cheers for your mail.
