Hi I'm waiting for a date to start this infusion so if anyone can give me any positive comments that would be lovely. No negative remarks/side effects as we are all different!

hi Jackie , just had one done today , if there is anything you want to know , several of us on the forum is on this drug , I started Feb last year on it & this was my 6th infusion some are doing realy well on the drug & I dont get any side effects at all from it , it is a very good drug if it works for you & only one way to tell , hope things go well & dont worry , only negitive is the time it takes

Hi A belated thank you for your response to my question. I'm seeing the specialist nurses next week and hope to commence shortly. Is it okay to mix with crowds afterwards? Thinking about infections We're you allowed home straight after treatment. Thanks

Hi Jackie, I've been on rituximab for a few years now. Before I got it I was having severe problems walking. I have found it to be fantastic, although it took around 4 months before I got the full benefit from it. The infusion can take around 6 hours but I had no problems at all during it, it can lower the blood pressure a bit when they are giving it to you but they check that every half hour. You can go straight home after it. I felt very tired the first time I got it. You can mix with people but it's sensible to avoid people that you know have infections. I've got a bit if a virus or something at the moment but I think I've caught that on the plane as we were away on holiday a couple of weeks ago but this is the first I've really been bothered with anything like that. hi Jackie47 , as lucy said they will let you home pretty quick , first time they may keep a check on you for a short time but have a cup of tea they will give you all the information you need , Chickenpox & Shingles you need to stay away from , but I had problems with leg ulcers & its ok to have Rituximab but not most the other biologics , its realy one of the best drups around & worth trying & works pretty quick

My daughter was home at Christmas, Colin, and had chickenpox. I was a bit worried and called the rheumatology. They didn't seem too concerned, maybe because I already had it as a child, they just said to be careful with hygiene. Hope you are well. x
