Subject: Re: chrones disease and RA ?
Hi Sandy It's too early to tell as her symptoms vary - GP is being cautious and is concerned as tests can be invasive, she has a hospital appointment with a consultant in June. She is just 13. It's not a chronic condition at the moment. Based on what I have learnt - if she continues with troubles or is diagnosed - I am quite sure we will use resources online for the Specific Carbohydrate Diet. I believe there is a spectrum ranging from less serious issues through IBS - with steps up to conditions like Crohn's an Ulcerative Colitis. NSAID's - including ibuprofen can cause damage to the gut - especially in the region of the gut where SIBO takes hold and can lead to Crohn's. http://http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/6150232 I think you are right though - it could often be the other way around with gut issue like Crohn's leading to RA and other autoimmune diseases. Take care and I hope you can find some relief, Sean
