Subject: Femur Joint Replacement

I am wondering if anyone else has had a femur joint replaced in the hip. I fell a couple of weeks ago and fractured the neck of the femur and would be interested to hear if anyone else has had this and how long recovery took.

Hi Lucy, me again mum had her hip joint replaced in her 80s and it took about 4months until she was back to her normal self and walking as good as before. She did have Physio and exercise to do at home. I know 4 months sounds a long time but six weeks and she was walking unaided and pain free. She lost a bit of confidence and could only do what she termed as short walks but I helped her pace herself and told her don't run walk. A nurse came and walked her to the top of the road and back until she was confident to go out on her own. You have to remember she was in her eighties and you will recover quickly as I know you are a strong person. Love to Lucy. Hope this helps a little xxxxxx

Thank you Lois. It will be 3 weeks on Tuesday since the surgery and I feel so sore and tired. Falling seems to be a habit of mine on holiday (and I was sober) lol. Enjoy the lunch tomorrow xx

Three weeks is nothing and you will be tired that would have been such a shock to the system. I bet you will feel so much better for being home. LOL if you had had a few at least there would of been an excuse and it wouldn't have hurt so much. (only joking). xxxx
