Subject: newly diagnosed

My GP believes I am showing symptoms of RA, have had 3 blood test and he is referring me to a specialist.
Pain is unbearable at times- especially at night- some days easier than others. Only taking anti inflammatory, codeine and paracetamol at present but does not appear to touch the pain when in full swing.
Is this normal?? What can I expect from here??

Hi Julie, When you are on the right medication things will get easier. I would go to the doctor and get him to call the hospital to try and get you in quicker as sometimes there is quite a wait. I was the same before I got the right meds and it is only the rheumatologist that can prescribe the drugs that you will need if it is RA. If you can't get an appointment soon and you are finding it difficult you could always go the the A&E and get a steroid injection to help. Good luck. x
