Subject: SHOES for Arthritis Sufferers
Hi! I've recently been diagnosed with psoratic and rheumatide arthritis. It all happened very quicky, within two months of feeling aches I couldn't walk. However, the medication is helping. I used to have a size 5 1/2 (Uk sizes) before I was diagnosed. When I got orthotics for my feet, it seems my feet have widend due to the disease. Now I'm a size 6 1/2 but the width of my foot won't fit into any shoes. I've tried all the usual shoeshops that offer wide and very wide shoes, however, my foot will still not fit. I'm 21 and don't want to end up wearing runners or slippers for the rest of my life. Does anyone else have this problem? or can anyone give any advice as to where I should check next? I live in dublin in Ireland so there is not much choice in shops...

Hiya, i had similar problem, ive gone up one size - uk8 , sometimes a 9 and also the width of my feet has got bigger, however im not having problems finding shoes as most wide fit are still okay. I go to marks + spencers for my work shoes , I am 28 and very much into fashion so dont frown at the thought! My husband bought me a gorgeous pair of gina shoes which no longer fit me because of the RA :( ...... Still waiting for a new pair in size 8 ha. Perhaps your feet are still a little swollen from a flare up and maybe they will settle abit with the medication ? X

I wouldn't be without my hotters shoes and sandles they come in width sizes and are made especially for poeple with feet problems, you can get them online and I only wear their shoes now, nothing else is as comfortable and I have bad arthritis in my toe joints
