Subject: Knee Arthroscopy

Had a knee arthroscopy for badly torn meniscus and also my kneecap was badly out of alignment. I have RA and was officially diagnosed three years ago after a few years of pain etc., I am on Sulphasalazine and Leflonomide. My question is... it was two and a half weeks ago that I had my knee operation under GA. I am still in a lot of pain, my knee is hugely swollen and it still feels as if something is out of place inside it. Still on two crutches and very limited mobility. Has anyone else experience of knee arthroscopy? Consultant says I will need a new knee in the not too distant future and he would do what he could to it when he does the arthroscopy. Thanks

Hi Gillian, I'm sorry, I don't know anything about athroscopy but could you ring your consultant/consultant's PA and talk to them about it. Or the ward on which you had the procedure or your GP. They are best placed to advice you.

Thank you. I will do that. Its hurt real bad again today. I rest as much as I can but try to keep mobile in case it seizes up and then I end up in even worse.

Hi Gillian, just wondered how you got on with your knee arthroscopy? are you OK now? I've just put my post on today about my arthroscopy 10 days ago. I've heard so many reports from friends, one recovered in 3 days, one in 3 weeks etc and out of 4 only one went on the have the op again and is still not right. I was sent home without any walking aids, and am still using my mum's walking stick to get about, limping badly!
