Subject: Rheumatoid arthritis

Can anyone tell me, categorically, if smoking has an adverse effect on rheumatoid arthritis!

Well, I don't think anyone knows for sure. It is thought that smoking might be a factor in getting it. I'm sure smoking once you've got RA is not a good idea, just because of the vulnerability of your heart and lungs with the disease. That's all I know on smoking and RA.

Hi Edward, I agree with bsk. I don't know if there is any connection with smoking and RA or not but they do say it could be a factor. I did smoke when I was diagnosed but no longer smoke. RA can sometimes affect the lungs so I don't think it is a good idea to continue smoking when you have RA or any other condition.
