hi lol , the drugs are scary at times & one reason a lot of us end up looking on forums , myself included when when I had problems with enbrel as for methotrexate I would recommend a higher dose of folic acid , it varies from consultant to consultant , they think it affects the drug in not working so well but taking higher dose folic acid allows us to have higher MTX without the side effects , been on MTX since 1998 myself & had problems with my liver results until they increased folic acid & been normal since

Hi Colin There's a another big link back to zinc here as instead of taking more folic acid taking zinc makes the folic acid take up better. Plus the other possible benefits. http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-the-connection-between-zinc-and-folic-acid.htm

Sean , the problem with Zinc is that it strengthens immunity & not what we need when taking drugs like Methotrexate but I still take it myself because of it helping the white cells . Folic acid we get given (5mg)it is 12 times stronger that you can buy over the counter , the reason it that methotrexate is a drugs that antagonise (that is, block) the actions of folic acid (vitamin B9). I take 30mg a week folic acid & its stop the side effects like liver damage , hair thinning & dont have any side effects from this drug now . http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/588229

hi Tracey , its the preservative in enbrel caused injection site reaction ( looks like orange peel ), think humira is the same , Enbrel did work well with my RA but the injection site reaction caused more pain than my RA did at the time in next week going to start tociilzmab & the reports from it is very good so I am very hopeful I would give Enbrel a try , alot of people get on with it , dont know much about humira
