Subject: raised liver enzymes

high it's lol went to rhummy nurse on thur had blood tests done on wed been on methotrexate for 3 weeks started on 4 now on 6 this week. my blood test showed my liver enzymes had doubled from 272 to over 450 in two weeks she spoke to conusultant and she said to stay on them as my alt was ok can anyone explain what this means also if you are going to have side effects how long does it take to kick in does it get worse the longer you are on them i have felt sick and as if i had the flu but nothing i couldn't cope with as iv'e said before i am frightened of this tablet thanks for everyone's support don't know what i would do if i couldn't come on and say what my fears are its great x

hi lol , its your ALT results that they look at , how much folic acid & how much methotrexate they giving you ?

Alanine Aminotransferase (ALT) , is for inflammation of the liver & if its raised high like over 130 they will stop it before any long term damage is done to your liver , so dont worry about long term damage as it is well controled
