Subject: Re: Osteoarthritis of the knee 38 years old
Hi Wendy I do longish distance running (exercise is good for my form of arthritis) when i feel up to it and have had knee problems at times - do you ever wear a knee support? Also - the main thing with exercise and knees is the strengthen the quadriceps as with some exercise these can waste. If you go to the gym do leg raises on the "machine" with light to slightly heavier weights (dont do it if it hurts!). It will strengthen the muscle that works the ligaments and take pressure off the joiint. http://blog.garymoller.com/2012/09/do-your-joints-tendons-and-ligaments.html Here's a medical study on weak quads and knee pain in osteoarthritis. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23973125
