Subject: Hello Members

This is my first time on the site, I have RH, and had it for many years, I'm 51 and so far I have had both knees replaced, but now i'm waiting for my left elbow to be replaced, I have waited 4 months so far, for just an appoiment to see a surgen, in the mean time my right elbow is on its way out, my left arm is bent ,so I can no longer drive, and both hands are full of arthritis, I'm on a lot of medication and I also have infusions, but nothing helps, it's hard to wash and I need help to get dressed, and feel alone often, people cant see your pain , It would be nice to share other members thoughts,

Hi Sue
It sounds as though you have been through a lot - hearing peoples stories on here has given me a greater understanding of arthritis and the treatments.
I hope you dont mind me asking but have you been under medical supervision for many years and did any medication ever work for you?
Others on here will have lots of good advice for you!

Welcome Sue, so glad you joined.
I have RA and like you for many years now.
I am considering ankle surgery and am waiting for my first consultant to come through. I have also seen a knee surgeon but he decided my ankle should be seen to first.
It is a horrible disease and not many of us have any great success with the treatments.
You are right about the terrible pain we have to live with daily.
Also you are right about not being able to do things easily , like dressing and eating,,, everything really.
Feel at home here and let out all your anger and frustrations...we all do at times.
We come to think of each other as friends, although we never meet. It just helps that we are in the same boat and we help and learn and ask each other questions and compare!
So a big welcome to you.
Regards Emm x

Hi Sue, Good to have you with us, although sorry that you are suffering with RA. I also have RA and have had it for around 13 years. At the moment I am getting rituximab infusions and they have helped me a lot. I have had three courses of it. I am also on mtx, sulphasalazine and plaquenil, oh and levothyroxine for an underactive thyroid. Looking forward to hearing more from you. Take care. x

Hi Sue
Welcome to the forum. I've RA but only diagnosed 3 years ago after years of ignoring the pains
i'm on mtx weekly, plaquenil (or a cheaper version of it) and humira
usually have steroid jab every 6 months but nurse trying not to give me it this time round but had one anyway
think my RA is pretty active again as although the injection helped big time i can feel my hands still throbbing and more difficult to bend so i'm sure on next visit the treatment will be discussed
I do hope you get appointment soon and some help
do keep us up to date and come on here as often as you can to tell us how you are doing
the support on here is great, even if only talking about how horrid the weather is!
