Subject: arthritis and me

Have not posted for some time having huge problems with hip replacement pain in legs pins and needles dead leg the lot so been for lots of tests and scans. Have to say the staff in all the hospitals I have been in in Inverclyde and Glasgow have been very good. Now diagnosed with arthritis in several different areas including spine. Time to be proactive I have bought a small mobility scooter and can now go shopping and take the kids out without having to give up. Gone back to work, in lots of pain and can't move at the end of the day but I am treated as a human being not the invalid that I had become. I intend to make the most of life while I can. It's not always easy in fact some days are awful but I now think I have to deal with it myself and not rely on the medics. I think acceptance of your condition and limitations means a lot and does help. I now just take each day as it comes.

Thanks Marlene I seem to remember that it was you who helped me when I was first diagnosed and told I had to have the hip op, seems like a lifetime away now. This is a condition that eats you up mentally you spend every waking hour thinking about how your going to manage that day out or that trip to the hospital(of which there has been many)or even a family meal. Time to fight back lol

Margaret, I do remember the chats we had. It was so nice to hear from you again. We have to be positive. Like you I have no intentions of giving in to OA either. I take each day as it comes. Yep we do have to plan a lot and that takes its toll at times. I love having all the family around but I do pay the price after and I tell myself it was worth it and it is.
Take care Margaret and keep posting xx
