Hi Sue,

I am also on rituximab. I had my third course about 2 months ago. I have felt it has made a difference although at the moment I am having problems with my ankles. It took over 4 months for it to kick in though, and that was only after getting two steroids, I think they might have kick started it. Do you still take mtx along with it Sue? I still take it, although I stopped it for around 6 weeks or more so that could be why my ankles have been so sore. When you go on the 21st you could ask about a steroid and see if it helps. It can take a while to work but I would have thought if it was working you would have felt a difference by now. You will probably have to wait at least 3 months before they would give you another biologic anyway so it could help to keep you going. I hope you get some relief soon as it is horrible when the pain keeps you awake. xx

hi rhona
thank you for your reply, yes I do still take the mtx, im on 10 tables weekly, you say your ankles are sore, my right ankle has been hurting and my foot and leg are swollen, I will take your advice and ask about a steroid, but in the past the steroid by injection or infusion both only seem to give me 2 good day's at best. i'm waiting to have my left elbow replaced, but 4 months on and still no sign appointment to see a surgeon, my arm is bent all the time , and i'm left handed, every day task's are so hard for me, I can no longer dress myself or peel veg and do a dinner, but I try to stay up beat, I hope your feeling ok and that your ankle is better xx

hi sue

I take a anti-tnf which is not working at the moment & waiting to see what they are going to change it to

my right elbow is also like yours & have they tried cleaning out the joint , what part of your ankles is playing up , had both ankles fused & need the main ankle joint replaced/fused at some point but in no rush

the swelling must be coming from somewhere , it can be pretty painful , your consultant can put a steriod injection into the main joint but would ask if they can give you a steriod injection into the small joints in your heel , which is were I expect your problems are coming from

a V3 Circulation Booster will help with the pain & getting the fluid moving , its just a big TENS m/c , hope you feel better soon & that drug starts to work
