Hi Marlene.Hope your well, I have read on other post you have had elbow surgery, is it full total replacement and has it helped your mobility. I suffer from R.A and my right elbow is quite damaged and need surgery as one of my options. I'd appreciate your comments Thank you

Hi Suz, I am not too bad. I am sorry to say I can't help you. I didn't have a full replacement. My op was for OA and they cleaned the joint and relocated some tendons due to tennis elbow. Later I learned (30yrs later) that the cleaning of the joints was to remove bone spurs due to the OA. I can only say that fingers crossed the only time my elbow bothers me is when I knock it, the pain is horrendous but goes after a short while. Take care and I wish you well in your surgery if you choose that route.

Marlene , did it help cleaning out your elbow , they offered it to me in 2008 when I was about to have my left ankle fused , but not sure cleaning out bone spurs would help for those of us with RA but its a lot less of a opperation than having the joint replaced got about 45 degrees movement in my right elbow & keep putting it off having the joint sorted , my left elbow has Bursitis & although not looking good dont give any pain , so Suz let us know how you get on if you have any opperation

Thank for your information Marlene, He did offer me keyhole surgery to remove bone spurs which is restricting my movement as he says, but like colin says how will that help for the long term with R.A. I don't know what I'm gonna do colin as yet probably another discussion with consultant will help bit

Hi there, I am not sure how much it would help with RA I can only speak for myself. Fingers crossed (if I could) the operation I had was very successful. I have been relatively pain free ever since. Although my spinal bone spurs were removed along with slipped disc surgery and that was not successful at all. My pain goes on. I didn't take any time to decide on surgery when it was suggested I just said when. I was in so much pain I just went for it. I hope you both get some help soon. Take care and I wish you both a Happy Christmas and a Great New Year.
