Subject: 30yrs old just been diagonised with rheumatoid arthritis
Hi I have just been diagnosed and started my MTX. I am really scared about what to accept and if it's actually gonna work and help.

hi carlyb , sorry you got diagonised with rheumatoid arthritis , good luck with methotrexate it can work very well for RA , I been on MTX since 1998 & now on 25mg a week , folic acid sorts out most the side effects & they can give it to you six days a week if you are having problems they are doing great things for those of us with RA so hope they get it under control very soon

Thank you x I think it's the thought of all the side effects. I just want to me more mobile with less pain. The fatigue is horrible x

hi carlyb sorry to hear your news.
i was diagnosed 3 yrs ago and feel i have come out the other side a bit now
the fatigue goes hand in hand with RA i'm afraid but there are good days too
i was on tablets mtx then jabs and now jabs and an anti tnf drug called humira - that made a big difference
the docs have to try to see what works with you and what doesn't or what can be added. the mtx may work on it's own and help you.
see how it goes and if needs be you get on the phone to the consultant or rhuemy nurse until they find something that works for you and gives you a better quality of life.
