Hi Colin
Yes on methotrexate 4 2.5mg once a week then 1 folic acid tablet 2 days later. Still not sure if I want to take it, seems such a severe drug. Going to speak to the Doctor again. What do you think about it? do you worry about the affects on other parts of your body. Am I worrying to much, I am now having pain in the joints of my toes I have not had this before.

Hi Pat , Methotrexate (MTX) is a very good drug for RA & PsA & it's the drug that has help reduce the joint damage alot of us suffered before they started using it , it has a lot of worring side effects but we take a very small dose compared to those with cancer

Folic Acid will help with the side effects & some of us take a 5mg folic acid tablet six days a week , it will help with most the side effects & allow you to take a higher dose of MTX at some time , I am on 25mg now & with no side effects at all & alot of the newer drugs with require you to be taking MTX as well , ask about increasing your Folic Acid as it will help the side effects

When I first had RA it was just one knuckle red with some pain & within 5 months had to give up work , hopefully they will be able to get yours under control if you can stick to the drugs , Arthritis Care & National Rheumatiod Arthritis Society both have free helplines which can be found in the link section above
