Subject: Knee joint osteoarthritis &Plantar fasciitis link?

Hi does anyone have osteoarthritis of the knee that has caused them to then develop plantar fasciitis?
I have both and (developed plantar fasciitis last December but despite referral to a podiatrist and a lot of exercise, spending all summer in trainers and insoles i'm no better. Just been referred to a orthopaedic as my doctor thinks both conditions are linked.
Any advice would be great.

Hi Belinda, I had never heard of plantar fasciitis and I am an OA sufferer. I looked on Google and it seems the more likely cause is an injury have a look and see if it relates to you. It could be that if you are walking incorrectly it may have caused this injury. When I limp it makes my hip hurt.
I hope you get some answers soon.

Hi Marlene, thanks for your reply and advice. I've had no injury but it started when I was on my feet for 12 hour shifts in a nursing home last December. I've since had to give up that line of work altogether as it was also progressing my OA. Your right I think, it's the way I'm now walking due to my knees. I hope the Orthopaedic can help as all else has failed, my Doctor seems to think I may need steroid injections in my feet but I've been told they are very painful to have and don't always work for long.
Anyway thanks again for the reply and take care x

Hi Belinda, sometimes the steroid injections are a bit painful but its only for a minute or two. They can be very good they have often worked for me and many of the girls and guys on here. I always say a short break from pain is the when I make up for it a do so much more. Chin up sweetheart take care xx
