Subject: Sulfasalazine for Psoriatic Arthritis

Hi all, I have Psoriatic arthritis and have been on Methotrexate for 15 months now which started off well but seems to be wearing off so my rheumy has prescribed sulfasalazine to try along side the MTX. Is anyone else on this?

Hi Christine, I have been on sulfasalazine for 12 years now, I take 4 a day. I haven't had any problems with it. It was the first drug I was prescribed and I started on one for a week then gradually built up to four. It is common to take more than one drug for r/a and p/a. If it doesn't agree with you then you can always stop it. Good luck.

hi Christine , I am the same as rhona & taken both for a long time , in the UK your need try two DMARD before they let you have one of the new bio drugs like anti-tnf enbrel so worth you trying the drug even if its to get the newer drug sometime

Thank you Rhona and Colin, I will try anything to try to get on top of this pain. Here's hoping that it gives me some relief. I know it's all trial and error at this stage so fingers crossed.
