Subject: flare clinic

went to flare clinic today not as bad as I thought saw registra who was really helpful. he examined me and said I don't need cortisone jab as he wasn't convinced it was the arthritis it might be the friction syndrome and he mentioned about some pain sensitive syndrome that's linked to fibromyalgia just before I left he said I need to put my sulfadiazine up I was on four tablets a day now six a day was a bit confused when came out but will do what I been told lol

hi Laura , I tried increasing sulfasalazine from 4 to 6 a day & did nothing for me , Methotrexate is a lot stronger in treating Auto-immune arthritis

having fibromyalgia just confusses it all & gives them a easy get out which dont help yourselfs

yeah definitely I agree it is confusing cos in one breath he said not arthritis in the next told me to put my meds up lol apparently my blood has been up to 20.8 for a while ido have friction syndrome in the same leg which complicates it even more I don't know if that would cause my blood to be up a bit

Hello all, I wish we had a flare clinic in our area, I have to wait weeks if I have a problem.
Do most of you have one?

I don't. I either call my nurse, consultant or rheumatologist on-call at the hospital and get advice and appropriate treatment. I never wait. That's bad Emm.

I dont have access to one either, I have a helpline number to call and they get back to you in four days which is a long time when you have a problem. I think in future I will just go to my g.p.
