Subject: CRY FOR HELP Re. Baby Fatigue!

Hi people,
I have rheumatoid arthritis and have just had my first baby (10 weeks!) I have been suffering with aching and fatigue since the birth and am finding it increasingly difficult to complete everyday functions required for caring for my daughter. Does anyone have any natural remedies they could recommend to help to energise me? (Dr gave me steroid injection last week but has had little to no effect. Truth be told... I'm actually feeling worse!)

HI there, congratulations on becoming a Mummy, I had my little boy in January 2007 and I know how you feel, mine started coming back when he was 3 days old. I was having problems with breastfeeding anyway and he was getting ill so we put him onto bottles, I started my medication up again and I have to say it's the best thing I ever did. I'm afraid I can't offer you any advice on herbal remedies as I didn't give myself that chance, I took one little Indomethacin tablet and felt like a new woman.

Are you breast feeding? Is that why you're not keen on starting meds again?

Do what's best for yourself as well as the wee one, they need you to be fit and healthy enough to meet their needs and you need to be pain free.

I hope you start to feel better soon.

Lisa CONGRATS on your new baby
my problemns began after my first baby, I have ReA and DDD, similar to R.A. same meds etc.... Hopefully your pain may settle down, maybe its the shock of having a baby..... But if it doesnt calm down, Insist on a referal to a rhumatologist, its also normal to get down with all the pain this causes, plus after having a baby, it is very tiring(had 6 babies)...try and rest as much as poss, the housework will always be there, so dont do too much, you and your baby are important ok...Steroid injections ususally help after a few days, but then it we are all different....are you on any DMARDS? maybe you need your meds reviewed? Breast feeding made me very tired, Bottle feeding gave me all my energy back, I dont know about any herbal remedies sorry, but then you must be careful with those too

take care
Jill x
