Subject: Not officially diagnosed /RA

Hi all. I'm 55 and hurting. Hands, hips, knees and feet. I think I have RA and will be seeing someone soon. I am currently 20 pounds over on my 5'3 frame. I joined weight watchers and the gym. I truly think things will be a little better when I lose the weight.
I'm looking for homeopathic supplements that have worked for others.

Hi Robin,

There are many types of arthritis that you can get and RA doesn't normally start in the hips. Have you had blood tests done to make you think it is RA? I have found fish oil capsules to be helpful and a healthy diet helps.

Hi Robin, I would lay off the gym until you know what is wrong with you and you get some advice about the best exercise as you don't want to damage your joints.

Homeopathic supplements are proven not to work for RA and, as Rhona says, there are lots of different types of arthritis. There's no point guessing even though it's understandable you want to do something to help yourself. Hopefully you will get an appointment soon and you can get some answers and work out where to go from there. Best of luck.

Hi Robin, you sound more like OA but you need to be tested and as Bsk said forget the gym. You need gentle excercise swimming is good. I have not been in the Gym since is was 37yrs no pain no gain is rubbish. My first operation was for a tennis elbow caused by reps in the Gym. My surgeon banned me from joint stress straight away meaning no more gym.
Fish oil capsules taken daily are helpful but I wouldn't waste your money on anything else until you have been diagnosed. You should always check supplements will not interfere with any meds you may be given.Take care
