It might help but not cure for Osteo Arthritis..

The Aspirin to help inflammation

and omega 3 oil to sooth the joint out.

No this does not help OA. Asprin is not strong enough and usually the damage is already done so the fish oil is too late. I do take fish oil but my joints are getting worse so I would say not much good!!! Just my opinion. Take care

When i was first diagnosed, the rheumatologist told me to take aspirin as my blood had a tendency to stick. Another rheumatologist took me off it a few years ago.

I've been taking fish oils for years. I've still got arthritis. Perhaps the aspirin i was taking was too low dose.

They've know about the anti-inflammatory properties of both for a long time but not put them together - duh! It won't be a 'cure' but a treatment I suspect. It's just research at this stage and I am more interested in the BiP trials that are starting. That is supposed to reboot your immune system.

I don't take aspirin as I bruise easily. Have had tests that confirm I am deficient in Omega 3 but couldn't tolerate fish oils, they made me throw up (sorry folks!) But would try it, obviously, if it comes to anything.

Hi Willis, I know you wasn't suggesting it was a cure. From your posts I know you to well for that as you say at this time winning the lottery would be more likely. I wonder when they decide to write all these cures do that actually know any one that suffers with any kind of Arthritis? Just one day in our shoes on a bad day maybe would stop all this rubbish and maybe just maybe a little more money would be spent on research. OA is a family thing if they could sort out the rouge gene maybe my kids wouldn't be showing signs of OA already. I am so worried for them knowing what they are going to have to put up with.I also feel a little guilty about passing this horrible thing down the line.
Willis I feel for anyone with this burden but we all manage well considering.
I hope you have been resting up after stepping in for your hubby. How is he good I hope.
You take care xxxx

Hi Marlene & Willis, didn't the 'cure' thing come from the headline in the papers? I think that's where I saw it, in the newsagent.

They are doing a lot of research Marlene, if you check out Arthritis Research UK they have a section where you can find all the research they are funding and who is doing it in which hospitals. Worth having a look as it is very interesting. It is my charity these days, not just because of myself but my mother had severe OA and really suffered a lot.

They do a couple of raffles a year, worth getting some tickets as the prizes are very good!!

The first rheumatologist i had, who i have to say was a fantastic doctor, was adamant that i must take low dose aspirin. I have no idea why another rheumatologist told me to stop taking it.

I have read that a lot of doctors take low dose aspirin themselves.
