Subject: just wondering

i have had various joint problems for many years and am nearly 44 female and have had some health problems which meant i ended up having my ovaries out a year ago. osteo was diagnosed in my lumbar region many years ago and have had cortisone injections in shoulder and heel prior to the operation. however since my op i have had 3 'flare ups' of pain in both knees, feet, elbows and hands, stiffness and pain were terrible,i had carpal tunnel and had injection for that as well. the pain in my knees was like red hot pokers going in, my fingers were like sausages every morning and i couldnt open bottle tops or do fiddly things like that. the first time it happened i started glucosamine and chondroitin which seemed to work after about 8 weeks but then it happened again and then again a few weeks ago, i had normal ESR CRP and RA bloods but have been referred to rheumo cos GP thinks it could be RA. my joints have settled again but not perfect. could this be RA???

Stiffness and pain in numerous joints can be an indication of Rheumatoid Arthritis. Rheumatoid Arthritis symptoms are unusual, in that, joints may flare up after minimal physical activity. This is demonstrated by the common experience of waking up with the above symptoms.

I consider that, often, experiencing typical beneficial affects of taking medication for Rheumatoid Arthritis may be a good indication that you have the condition.

Hope this helps

yeah sounds like arthritis to me. I am 41 and was diagnosed last year. Suffered with knee and foot pain for months. Now have it in my back, neck, toes and wrists too. Just had surgery on my toes. Take methatrexate weekly and it keeps me pain free. Starting enbrel injection in a few weeks also. Rheumatogist will sort you out, mine is great.
