Subject: Suspected pa would like opinion
Hi everyone! I have posted on a thread previously but suspect maybe it's easier to start a new thread. would be really grateful for anyone's opinion...I haven't had a diagnosis yet but I have psoriasis on my face scalp and nails, and about 4 years ago approx had what I thought plantifacititis, also sciatica. This was on and off over the peroid of 4 years, then about a yr ago aoprox I started to have a rigid painful toes (smaller one next to little toe) this caused swelling and pain in the toe and on the pad of the foot under the toes making painful to walk, the doc says its immfmation, also the same time a lump in the back if the other heel which the doc confirmed from an x-ray is bone. My brother was diagnosed with pa after 5 yrs of the docs being clueless, his symptoms started with the same pain in the same toe. Does this sound like PA symptoms to any of you or did u go through any similar experiences while waiting for diagnosis, I'd be Intersted in hearing your feedback! Thanks in advance Tammy

Hi Tammy, I have PA and mine has affected all my joint's including my back, mine first started in my knee's. How the rhumy diagnosed mine was by my nail's and skin, your skin is very shiny as though you had applied cream and your nail's have line's going up and down. Also PA is hereditary. Not sure if you have it or not but it can take a while to diagnose as it take's a while for all the symptoms to be noticeable. I hope this has helped you and good luck with getting a diagnosis. Deborah.

Hi tammy I have pa and fibro I found getting diagnosed quite quick compared to some on the forum I had psoriasis when I was 18 which later cleared with me getting the odd patch or two here and there the arthritis started in my shoulder and went to every joint from there I've tried numerous drugs to slow the disease down and after nearly 3 years and numerous drugs I am still struggling, your symptoms do sound like pa I have had nail changes too ridges lines bumps and even nails coming off. Fingers crossed its not pa but keep us updated. Lynn

Well had my steroid injection, I was a baby and it hurt! Haha hoping for some pain relief now, the orthopaedic doc who gave the injection said it sounds like pa but he is referring me to a Rheumy for a second opinion and possible diagnosis. I feel strangely relieved, I suppose having someone tell u the reason for your pain helps with dealing with it. will await appointment with Rheumy now n keep u posted. Has anyone found any relief from any alternative therapy? Tammy x
