Hi Seamus, They say if you take methetroxate or any of the drugs that can reduce your immune systen then you should have it. It probably is advisable to get it especially if your specialist is advising you to have it. I will admit that i didn't always take it but it is probably sensible to get it. I haven't heard of it messing up with the medication. Take care.

Hi Seamus. I have the flu jab and no problems even tho I am on sulfasalazine and methotrexate. Have a chat with your gp and air your concerns.

Hi,I am on methotrexate and I've had the flu jab for the last two years with no side effects...being on a drug that can lower my immunity i'd rather have the flu jab than the flu.

I've had my flu jabs done every year since being diagnosed and have not had any problems at all. Some GP's will give it if you have RA, but some will only give it if you are on a drug that affects your immune system, like MTX. Not sure if all of the DMARD's do this. Nurse once told me that MTX brings your immune system down to a normal level but if we get any infection it does not kick in to fight the infection. You should also have a pneumonia jab as well.
