Subject: Is this normal?
i am now 28. flare ups normally particularly bad in my knees and normally last for weeks/months only. this latest flare up is by far the worst i have ever been and it doesnt show any signs of going away, its been almost 12 months. it is now in my jaw, neck, back, elbows, knees and one thumb. it has permenantly damaged both knees. my knees are THAT swolen it has resulted in the cartilage in both of them being torn/snapped etc. i have undergone arthroscopy and synovectomy on both but, now need to treat the disease itself. over the years i have tried sulfazalazene and azathioprine. neither have worked. i can not be put on methotrexate just yet as i plan to have a family in the near future. i have been diagnosed with PCOS, which i believe in the alternative therapy medicine world is also linked with 'damp in the body' hence the swelling and fluid in my body. I am in agony every single day! and i'm basically here to find out if this normal. i know chronic arthritis is painful but, some days i can not walk, straighten my leg, straighten my arm or move my jaw! the pain is becoming unbearable and i don't know what else to try now. after alternative therapy and massage and qigong/gentle thai chi, i hope to discuss one of the new biomedical drugs with my specialist soon. ANY advice would be MUCH appreciated

Hi frizi, It sounds like your condition is very active rather than a flare, i think you need new medication to get it under control.
