Subject: nuisance calls

I just had to let you all know about a ridiculous call i got tonight from an asian guy saying i was to be given money over £6000 from the british government for being a good citizen, i told him just to give it to charity and he got very abusive saying i had wasted his time and how we british were all the same, i put the phone down and he has been calling repeatedly since, i had to put my phone off for a couple of hours to get rid of him, i have since phoned the bt operator and asked if they could trace the call but it was international. I have asked to be put on the call preferential or whatever it's called to stop all these calls although it won't stop the international ones. So annoying when you are sore and get up to answer to find out it's to claim PPI or worse still crooks trying to get into our bank account.

I always ask them for their home number so I can ring them back for a chat when they finish work. That usually gets rid of them.

BT ect wont help they all sell our information including my local council. Its big money for them. I had the same call from BT trying to sell me a package for the TV they do. Day four I told him its bad enough all the other companies trying to sell me a kitchen or windows without my phone provider jumping on the band wagon. So he took me off the mailing list after I asked for his name to report him. Considering I am ex directory I shouldn't receive calls from anyone that I don't give my number to.So I know exactly where you are all coming from.

I often use the line, "What are you wearing?" in a butch but husky voice.
They often seem to put the phone down on me nowadays.... :(

if the person phones again. reply by imitating his accent. that ussually makes them put the phone down...maybe they are not wired right anyway.

Sorry to hear this Rhona and I know how annoying it can be,
The phone company esp BT should have a number you can ring to report nuisance call's it should stop them, if they don't help try the police.
Hope you get it sorted Deborah.

Thanks to everyone for your replies. I don't usually get too bothered with those calls but this one was obviously some nutter, thankfully he hasn't been back on.
