Subject: New to arthritis?

Hi!

I'm a 13 year old who has had Phorasis all her life, and has developed all the symptoms of Phorasic Arthritis over the past year and a bit. I haven't yet taken a blood test due to a very hectic school year, but have already visited my local Doctor's once for briefing and am preparing to go again for diagnosis soon.

Even though I have researched the disease quite a bit (my parents don't want me to research it because it makes me upset but I think it's necessary), I still am unsure about what living with the condition will be like as its severity increases.

I was wondering if any of you wouldn't mind giving me some truthful experience and/or advice? I'd rather be prepared as I can be for what's coming, rather than not know things and be shocked when I get there.

Thanks so much :)

Hello!
I've had psoriasis for 28 years, got it when i was 10. You are asking a big question! Where to start?
Firstly, i'd say that it is quite common to get a 'flare up' at your age, and it might well die down in the future. So don't necessarily think that it will be this bad for the rest of your life.

I think the most important bit of advice i could give is to try and treat your psoriasis as if it were your baby sister. Care for it, treat it gently and show her some love.
Some days it will limit what you can do, but if you look after it most days you will be able to do what you like.

Best of luck, and welcome to the forum. :)
Chris

The http://naturalrheumatoidarthritistreatment.com/getting-to-know-psoriatic-arthritis/Psoriatic Arthritis is a combination of psoriasis and tendons. Psoriasis preceded arthritis and the areas affected include the spine, cartilage, tendons, eyes, and lung lining wherein it causes inflammation.
