Subject: MRI

Hi all,

I havent been on for ages.Hope everyone is coping ok.

I have to go for an mri scan on my hips and i just wondering if anyone else has been for one and if anyone could tell me what it is like and what to expect?

Thay are going to be using dye and i was told i will have local anesthetic.

A little update now, I have been on methotrexate now for 2 months and do think it has started to take effect, although i have had tonsilitis again and a chest infection.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Mike.

Hi Mike, never had the dye so don't know how that affects you but the scan itself is nothing. I find them claustrophobic and ask for a mask so I don't give in to the temptation to open my eyes and go into a panic! The 'mask' is usually a bit of paper towel lol!
Good luck with it.

Hi MIke, I also have had MRI on spine and hips not with Dye or local so can't help with that. It is ok just a bit of banging and sudden movement. Give you earphones to wear. Bit compact but you can talk to them and they also can talk to you. The experience overall is ok. Hope your results are good.Take Care

Hi Mike,
Had a MRI scan a few months back never had the dye, it is open top and bottom so there is plenty of air and they gave me a pillow for my knee,s so was quite comfortable also had earphone,s and listened to my fave music you can hear a bit of rumbling but it just the machine.

Might feel a bit small if you have a broad chest but for someone like me who does not like small space,s I found it very relaxing and was in there for 40min,s so would have no prob,s having another one.

Good luck hope you will be ok with it Deborah.
