Subject: Knee Permanently Locked, Psoriatic Arthritis
Hello, I have just been diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis in my left knee(diagnosed after 6 months of investigation)I had a steroid injection last week which really helped with the pain. I am on celebrex twice a day and I am starting methotrexate tonight.what is really upseting me more than anything is the fact I can't bend or straighten my knee, has anyone had experience of this and will I eventually get full movement back. Thank you

Hi Julie, sounds pretty similar to mine. I couldn't bend my knee for nearly a year due to inflamation. Due to Prednisolone I can now bend my knee. Have you tried it?

Hi Julie, I have r/a and my knee has been the same at times (impossible to bend) Once your medication starts to work it should sort that out and you should be able to bend it again. best wishes x

Hi Julie, hopefully your medication will help you soon. This arthur is a pain in the backside as well as many other places LOL. My shoulder due to OA locks and it is apart from painful is very frustrating. So like the others I do totally understand. Take Care and keep smiling xx

Julie, seeing a physiotherapist may also help, once you've got good pain relief, some gentle exercises of the knee, will help you to regain your flexability...ask your doc also about using hot packs or cold packs to reduce the inflamation in your knee...but a short treatment of steroids can make the difference alot quicker...In our prayers...x

Hi Yasmin,Before I was diagnosed with pa I was sent for Physio from the Orthopedic dpt, the physio was trying to force my knee back and then putting his weight on knee tying to straighten it, not good :( the Consultant I am under now has said once swelling and pain is under control she is sending me for gentle physio like you have sugested. Thank you (and everyone else) for taking the time to reply to me. I feel so much more positive now xx

OUch!!!!!...That sounds nastyyyy...I can't understand why professionals stop using their God given brains and only rely on written standard texts and follow blindly...Anyone with half a brain would have automatically realised what this course of action will lead to...God give us Strength:)!!!!
