Subject: Advice please
I am an overweight 73 year old woman and have a bit stiff with painful joints for about a year now, but at Christmas I woke up one morning unable to walk at all. The doctor sent me for an X-ray and I was diagnosed with Arthritis in the hip. I walk with a stick now and take tramadol for the pain but other than lose weight have been given no other advice at all. I also have very bad pain between the elbows and shoulders and am unable to raise my arms up. Someone said this could be arthritis is that the case?

Hi jjo, yes this does sound like Osteoarthritis, try to use your arm as much as you can. Just try to keep mobile and rest when you need to. Not much apart from the painkillers that Dr can give you. Surgery is the route they take when it becomes what they term as severe. I am 61 and have had two surgeries so far. You take Care and hope this helps.

Hi jjo, you should see a doctor as you could have other conditions that cause that sort of pain. It is very difficult to manage with your arm out of action and there might be something they can do to help.

Hi jjo, I agree with bsk that you should see your doctor. It could be many things so best get the doc to check you out. Sometimes a steroid injection into the joint can make a huge difference.
