Subject: Finger Fusion?

Hi all. I'm just wondering if anybody has had a fusion surgery on finger joints?
I have RA and my right middle finger (middle joint) got so stiff that I can't bend. My orthopaedist suggested me to have a fusion surgery on this joint which should make my right hand more functional. My main concern is if it would affect my ability to play the piano as I am a piano teacher. Doctors don't always know practical things in real life so I would love to hear any experience you have had concerning finger fusion surgery. Thanks!
