Subject: Re: is doc right ?
Hi Susan, A diagnosis of RA is quite a complicated thing and a lot of things need to be taken into the equation. Blood tests would be needed and also X-rays to look at the condition of your joints. If your doctor thinks you have RA ask him to refer you to see a rheumatologist - until you have had all the tests a proper diagnosis can't be given. RA doesn't usually start in a big joint like a knee it is more usual to start in the feet and hands. It is also usually symmetrical so it will be in both hands, both feet, both knees etc. Have a look at this link - it's a great place to start getting an idea of what RA is all about. http://www.arc.org.uk/arthinfo/patpubs/6033/6033.asp
