Subject: cimzia and infections -- unconrolled RA and pregnancy planning

hi all hope you are well in this lovely sunshine. xx

so is there anyone on cimzia or another anti-ntf that has lots of infections. i was on enbral and had about 7 in 9months which isn't great but i could deal with it but i have taken 3 doses of cimzia and a week after each dose i have had an infection and today got more anti-biotics.

i had my 1st lot in jan for 3 weeks to clean then end of feb had a week now this week, i can't get off week zero for meds because its to long between each dose.
so how long should i keep trying to take this med before giving up as this way is definatly not helping me.

also when i do decide to come off it i will be trying for a baby so has anyone else concieved a baby with unconrolled RA as my rheumy is saying try more but go says he thinks i should go for it has i don't know when remission maybe.

sorry this is a lot but don't know where to turn xxx

Hi Davina
I had my first doses of cimzia just over two weeks ago and I currently have the worst chest infection Iv had for years! I havnt had a chest infection for about 15 years and since having cimzia its hit me with such force I have been in bed for 5 days this week. It does concern me as I was on humira and had nothing but infections with that and like you it kept on delaying my next treatment. I feel like this is going down the same road!
With regards to trying for another child, I came off metho for 3 months before trying for baby number 2 and as I was able to keep taking the prenisolone aqnd co codamol I could cope with the pain. I went into remission both times I was pregnant, how was your ra first time round? My ra came back about 4 weeks after having my 2nd but as I didnt breats feed I could go back on the metho pretty much straight away after having my son. I think that if you feel ready to have another one then do it, as you never know when and if you will go into remission.
Good luck xx

Hi Kim so sorry your going though this too its horrible to think I may have this every time. Will you keep trying or give.up after a few times?
I really don't know how to cope with taking injection then 2-3 weeks gap.
I had signs of ra during pregnancy but put it down to normal pains and my doctor even after my knee giving way on the stairs didn't have an idea. Then I had my son and was told in Jan 2010 I had ra
I am now off methotrexate and other meds I'm going to Wein off them x
