Subject: Heathrow and Methotrexate

Has anyone taken their pre-filled Methotrexate syringes through security at Heathrow. I have a letter from HealthCare At Home stating that they shouldn't be x-rayed. Just wondering what the procedure is. Do I take them out of the box, put them in a plastic bag. I can't find any info online so would be grateful if anyone can help.

I've flown a few times from Liverpool and taken it with me. I can only tell you what I do.

I have my letter from Heath Care at Home and also one from my consultant.

I always leave mine in the black plastic bag. When I get to security I tell them what it is, that it cannot be x rayed. They put it in a small tray, they have on every occasions read the letters, they have to swob the bag mind you. All of the time I can see what they are doing. I always put the needle bit in with my other medication that I leave in my carry on bag.

I don't know if you have a travel box for the used syringes, I have, Health Care at Home with send you one.

Hope this helps.
