Hi Mike I am on anti tnf enbrel but I had to try hydrocliroquine, sulphasalazine, methotrexate, leoflounmude, then gold injection I reacted badly to them all I have only been on enbrel for roughly 8 weeks but not been able to take it for the last fortnight due to infection, the nhs will try you out on the cheaper meds first then see how things go, I hope u get on well on shulpha

Hi Mike, I am on an anti tnf enbrel but i still take sulphasalazine, MTX and plaquenil. I have only been on the enbrel for 9 weeks and not sure if it is doing much for me yet. It is normal to start on the DMARDS and they worked well for me for around 11 years, they probably know a lot more about sulphasalazine and MTX as they have been around a lot longer and they can work just as well, you usually have to try the other drugs before they will give you the anti tnf therapy (i inject once a week) i guess money does play a part in it but if the other drugs work for you then they might be every bit as good and at least you know if you need anti tnf therapy at a later date then it will be there. I was on sulphasalazine alone for around four years before they added MTX x

Hi Thankyou all for hour replies, I really hope the sulpha does work for me, I hate the thought of my joints being permanently. I already have CAM deformity of the hips and am due to see a orthopaedic in April to discuss what can be done about that. Anyone else suffer with that?
