I have taken them for OA. Being in pain all day and then awake all night is very draining. I was given these to help for a period of three months. The sleep was heaven sent and reading lots of posts on here it is not unusual for sleeping tablets to be prescribed. Hope this helps. Take Care X

thanks marlene, ive been on them for 3yrs they are a big part of my pain management,im on 20ml i dont take 20ml every night just when the pain is really bad,dos anyone know on the forum if the pharmacy has any right to question your medication, i changed my pharmacy 3mth ago, and the phamaacy pulled me to one side, and said she was putting a flag on the computer for my doctor, so he could reacess me on the sleeping tabs,i was fuming i told her i was reacessed 4mth ago, but she said she was going to put a flag on, i felt like saying to her if you had RA and knew the pain you would want more than 20ml a night, i wouldnt wish RA on my worst enemy, but as you all know the pain it gets me mad when a young girl whos just despencing my medication has made her self busy.x

Hi Chrissy, the powers that be gave pharmacist the right to check what we take I have no understanding why. When they ask me will I talk to them about my meds I always say I am busy or i dont feel up to it. Don't worry your GP will not stop your meds because they have put a flag up. They also do health checks at my pharmacy I did it once she told me my blood pressure was sky high. Rushed to my GP, after taking my full amount of pain meds for two days, Dr checked blood pressure fine. Dr explained quiet simple walking around to get prescription and a bit of shopping caused a lot of pain sent my blood pressure up. Would I be so stupid as to let anyone other than my gp do any checks on me not so likely.(scared me witless) I have enough to deal with.
Your Drs practice will be keeping a close eye on all your meds so stop worrying and just ignore her. You Take Care. Keep smiling it leaves them wonderinig what you have been up to. X

From my understanding, these sleeping tablets are addictive and are usually only prescribed for short periods of time. The pharmacy have to fill a log in of all medications prescribed and what they mean by red flagging is so they can keep a check on repeat prescriptions that are normally only prescribed for short periods. This is then checked with your gp surgery to make sure the prescription has been written by your doctor. Its just a sign of the times with people getting hold of prescription pads and filling them in themselves that makes pharmacies and doctors surgeries be mindful to check quantity and length of prescribing for particular medications. Dont worry about it, its just normal practice to check repeat prescriptions from time to time. It does not mean they are stopping you having your tablets. Hope this helps. Gillian

Thanks for that gillian, the pharmacy is right next to my doctors, and the pharmacy pick the sript up for me,so they know the script has been written by my doc,the reason ive been on the sleeper for so long, is because ive got severe active athritis, from reading posts on here a lot of people are on morphine, i dont take anything like that, i have zapain and diclofenac,it just gets me mad they want to take me of a mild sleeper, anyway just see what happens.x
